While the mainstream cinema has been hobbled by the necessary restrictions put in place by the pandemic, the smaller, independent producers haven’t been so restrained. In fact, I go as far as to say that some independent producers were actually inspired by the situation and managed to take advantage of empty streets and the high quality offered by modern cameraphones.
Being a bit of a hermit, I was quite happy to sit at home and watch a few of the independent films that I was fortunate to be sent, and as a compliment to our roundup of mainstream cinema reviewsย here are the independent films I got to watch in 2021. I’ve split them into two categories: documentary and fiction.
Regardless of category, you need to bear in mind that most of these films were made for less than the amount spent on catering to your typical blockbuster!

This app is the best wingman for a movie goer, especially when you have to go. It even has a vibrating timer that is spot on for those ‘go times’ some of us need! There are many other features that are wonderful. It even lets you know when the kill scenes are coming up for the people and animals for those who may have sensitivities to that type of content. The staff go above and beyond!
