Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes assembled

Ah…Marvel. Say that and everybody, nowadays, thinks of the MCU. However, in the eighty plus years that it has been around it has proven to be a lot more than just that. In 1939 Timely Comics was established. Within a decade that was to become Magazine Management/Atlas Comics. In 1961 it rebranded itself yet again. This time it became Marvel Comics and the name stuck. It was as Marvel that I came to know about as a youngster.

As is the way of the world, as the Marvel brand grew in popularity so the likelihood of people seeing the money making potential and acting upon it grew and grew. In some ways it is mildly surprising that it took as long as it did to hit the screens. Back in 1944, there was a one off, short (fifteen part) cinema serial called Captain America but starring Dick Purcell as DA Grant Gardner aka Captain America.

Anyway, here we have a list of the mainstream Marvel televisual and cinematic offerings. There are other film series that are tangentially linked to the Marvel-verse (Kingsman, Kick-Ass, and Men In Black to name but a few) which haven’t been included at the moment but who knows what the future might hold. This hub was refreshed in October 2026 with everything we've covered since, our "is there anything extra during the end credits?" answers, and our old MCU TV hub, which now lives in the TV section below. Personally, I'm looking forward to a decent Fantastic Four Film! (Update: The Fantastic Four: First Steps arrived in 2025 — it's in the films list.)

2016-2018 Luke Cage — When a sabotaged experiment gives him super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage becomes a fugitive attempting to rebuild his life in Harlem.

2017-2017 Inhumans — After a military coup, the Inhuman Royal Family escape to Hawaii, where they must save themselves and the world.

2017-2018 Iron Fist — After being presumed dead for 15 years, Danny Rand, a billionaire Buddhist monk and martial artist, returns to New York City to reclaim his family company.

2017-2017 The Defenders — Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist team up to fight a common enemy, the Hand.

2017-2019 The Punisher — After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his family, the Punisher uncovers a larger conspiracy beyond what was done to him.

2017-2019 Runaways — A young adult series about teenagers taking on their criminal parents.

2018-2019 Cloak & Dagger — Another young adult series about teenagers who gain powers following an accident.

2020-2020 Helstrom — Daimon and Ana Helstrom, the children of a serial killer, hunt the worst of humanity.

The MCU On Disney+

With the assistance of the newly launched Disney+ service, the MCU had a conduit to the home based, TV watching audience — and the shows became part of the Phases established way back in 2008 with the first Iron Man film.

2021 WandaVision — MCU jumps into the TV world with a series about Wanda's descent into madness and the introduction of the delicious Agatha Harkness.

2021 The Falcon And The Winter Soldier — The original Super Soldier Serum that led to the creation of Captain America gets copied and used by a group who believe life was better during the Blip.

2021-2023 Loki · Season 2: What You Need To Know — A spinoff for Loki which explains that concept of the Multiverse and sets us up properly for the second MCU Saga.

2021-2024 What If…? — A fully animated series exploring alternative realities if one small change was made and where it would lead.

2021 Hawkeye · Official trailer · What we know / what we want — Clint Barton meets Kate Bishop and they team up to shoot arrows at bad people. One amongst those is Echo, leader of the Tracksuit Mafia!

2022 Moon Knight — Marc Spector, a mercenary who has dissociative identity disorder, is drawn into a deadly mystery involving Egyptian gods and his multiple alters.

2022 Ms Marvel — Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old fangirl of the Avengers struggles to fit in until she gains her own powers.

2022 She-Hulk: Attorney At Law — Jennifer Walters has a complicated life as a single attorney in her 30s who also becomes the 2 metre tall, green, superhero She-Hulk.

2022 The Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special

2023 Secret Invasion — A faction of shapeshifting aliens have infiltrated all aspects of life on Earth. They are the Skrulls, who we were introduced to in Captain Marvel.

2024 Echo — As mentioned earlier we met Echo in Hawkeye.

2024 Agatha All Along — And we met the wonderful Agatha in WandaVision.

2025 Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man — Peter Parker's early days, animated, but with a twist; Norman Osborn, rather than Tony Stark, is Peter's mentor!

2025 Daredevil: Born Again — Charlie Cox returns as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil.

2025 Ironheart — A Black Panther/Wakanda spinoff featuring Riri Williams (no relation!) who became Ironheart in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
