Looking at our collective 2025 reviews, you’d think we were watching three different years of cinema. Same assignment pool—we all see what needs Peetimes—but the responses couldn’t be more different.
Christene saw the most movies this year, and she brought the widest emotional range to match. Horror is clearly her wheelhouse; she’ll give an A+ to Heart Eyes and a “WTF” to Keeper, and both grades feel earned. When she loves something, you know it. When she hates something, you really know it.
Steven got assigned fewer films, but he tends to land the prestige pictures—The Brutalist, September 5, the arthouse fare. His lowest grade is a B-minus. Either he’s generous or he’s lucky with his assignments. Probably both.
Then there’s me, willing to hand out F’s when a movie truly wastes everyone’s time. I reserve my A++ for films that actually respect the audience. We’re all watching movies because someone has to find the Peetimes, but we each bring our own lens to the review. Same job, three very different critics.
