Even though I’m not a fan of musicals, I liked Wicked and was looking forward to seeing Wicked for Good. I can’t say that I’m disappointed. It’s a good movie, but I feel that it has much more potential. I know that not many people will agree with this, but I feel that the singing was forced into many scenes that would have been better off without it. That being said, there were a few really great scenes that were enhanced by the singing.
Yes, the performances were amazing. Cynthia Erivoas as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda are generational talents. There’s no denying that. Their singing, especially where the scenes really needed it, is fantastic. What stands out to me the most is how the characters and story come together so perfectly. Formulating the right ending in a story like this was always going to be a Herculean challenge. Obviously, this story was a play before it was a movie, but what is most commendable is that the authors of the original play took the time to work the script until everything fit together perfectly. And this was not an easy puzzle to put together. It needs to balance happiness with sadness, provide the right character motivation, and put characters in situations where they must sacrifice to get what they want. If this was easy to do, then every movie would be great. But every movie isn’t great, which is a testament to just how difficult this is to pull off. So kudos to the writers: Stephen Schwartz, Winnie Holzman, and Gregory Maguire. They kept editing this script until there was nothing left to improve.

Brilliant idea with great information
I’ve been using RunPee for a few years now and it’s basically a requirement of going to the movies for me. The best part of course are the “pee times” that give you cues, synopses and times for when you can pee without missing the most important parts of the movie. There is also information about the credits- length, extras and if there are any extra scenes at the wayyy end. Super helpful to just know that it is or isn’t worth staying. There is a timer function that will buzz your phone when it’s a good time to pee. I also appreciate that the app is very conscientious about it being an app you use in a theater- dark background, all silent alarms etc. I will always enjoy the experience of the theater even if I could watch things at home- but I’ve even used it at home to check for things like after credit scenes or other information too.

As an angry mob rises against the Wicked Witch, Glinda and Elphaba will need to come together one final time. With their singular friendship now the fulcrum of their futures, they will need to truly see each other, with honesty and empathy, if they are to change themselves, and all of Oz, for good.
Creator and developer of the RunPee app. When something doesn’t work right in the app it’s pretty much his fault. 🙂
Aspiring author. Would like to finish his “Zombie Revelations” trilogy if he could break away for working on RunPee and the cottage he’s building for RunPee Mom.
