Movie Review – Annabelle Comes Home

Movie Review - Annabelle Comes HomeI enjoyed Annabelle enough to garner a solid B+. I was hoping for a perfect A, but wasn’t blown away.

It’s a good movie. There were several times I had chill bumps over my entire body and the audience seemed to share my feelings. I heard a bunch of screams and I was lucky enough to be in a lively theater. (I love hearing people talk to the screen.)

I’m wondering if they are going to keep this franchise going. They have the perfect in with the daughter Judy. She has the same talent as her mother — Lorraine Warren. I’d like to see more of this elusive doll. There is something fascinating about Annabelle that draws me in.

This weekend we have plans to go back and see it as a family. Yes, we are taking the grandchild, because that’s how we roll. Our amazing Savannah is going to be turned into Annabelle. She will be a perfect recreation of this ever-so-popular doll.

It’s a fun film I will recommend. They were able to weave in plenty of humor, which is why it stood out. When you can be scared to the point of jumping, and in the very next moment you laugh, that’s a job well done.

Enjoy yourselves, and if you see a little Annabelle running around the theater, fret not, it’s just Savannah…or is it?

Grade: B+

About The Peetimes: There are 2 great Peetimes to use. I highly recommend the 2nd one since there is absolutely no dialog.

There are extra scenes during, or after, the end credits of Annabelle Comes Home. (What we mean by Anything Extra.)

Movie Review – The Curse of La Llorona – A Good Scary Time in the Conjuring Universe

Movie Review - The Curse of La LloronaThis premier was a happy moment and a sad moment for me. I’ve been anticipating this film for quite some time. The Conjuring Universe is my all-time favorite series of movies. Ever.

As a little girl, I read The Amityville Horror, and that is where I first discovered Ed and Lorraine Warren. I’ve followed their lives ever since and was ecstatic when The Conjuring came out. This has been a wonderful way to give them the limelight they deserved.

Sadly, last night, in her sleep, Lorraine Warren passed away. She lived to a ripe age of 92. I call that a successful life…a life that touched many people and will be surely missed. So as I sat in a beautiful Dolby theater, with my seat reclined, the woman on the screen left this world.

That’s a little chilling all by itself.

What was also chilling and creepy was The Curse of La Llorona. I tell you what — I got the chill bumps so many times that my legs looked like a Yeti on the way out. There were so many scenes that I jumped that I lost count.

I really like it when you can hear how much the movie is affecting the audience. I wasn’t the only one leaving with furry legs. I thought this one really vocal woman was going to have a heart attack. A good time was had by all.

They gave you a few glimpses into the rest of the movies: the way they wove them all together is really impressive. There is some great writing going on here. I’m looking forward to the next Annabelle, which is talked about in this movie.

There were even some funny moments; the delivery and timing of these lines were extremely well-placed.

My one and only complaint is that I kind of felt the little girl didn’t shine like she could have. Her role was a little flat. Other than that, I loved it.

This is odd…two weeks in a row, now my main complaints are the roles of the little girls. Pet Sematary did the same thing. This solidifies my thoughts on getting my granddaughter an agent. The acting world needs some fresh faces of the little girl kind.

In conclusion, if you’re a fan of James Wan and the creations he comes out with, see this movie. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Grade: B+

About The Peetimes: This was a really short, fast paced movie. I’ve decided on only 1 Peetime. I found a spot right in the middle that allows you plenty of time to use. Any point after this Peetime is a must-see.

There are no extra scenes during, or after, the end credits of The Curse of La Llorona. (What we mean by Anything Extra.)

Movie Review – The Nun

the nun in the conjuring universe
Some real creepy shit here

Sit back, relax, and pull off your habit. It’s time for The Nun to have some fun. Seriously, I’ve been waiting for this movie since the day I was born. I felt it in my bones. The Conjuring Universe has consistently been one of the greatest franchises ever put to film. The amount of expectation for each new release is kind of like the feeling you get when you buy a new car. You sit there and take a deep breath in and smell the newness. They always give us something new, but still remain true to the ongoing saga. I’m in love with it.

The Nun is a prequel to the main Conjuring franchise, expanding on a character that was first mentioned in The Conjuring 2. The way that the makers tie all of these films together is so refreshing and new that I can’t praise them enough.

The setting of The Nun is awesome. It was filmed entirely in Romania. Visiting there has been on my bucket list for years. I felt like I was there. Now I really want to go. The Abbey that they were in was breathtakingly creepy and beautiful. I have no complaints about the movie. You’ll enjoy the many scream scenes. The makeup job on The Nun is spot on. There are a ton of jump out of your seat moments. The season of horror movies is just now starting, so I recommend this one to get your Halloween spirit into high gear.

Grade: A

About the Peetimes: The Nun is a really short movie. I 100% recommend the Peetime at the beginning of the movie. There is a 2nd Peetime listed later, but that should only be used for emergencies.

Movie Review – The Conjuring

TheConjuringThe Conjuring was by far the best scary movie I have seen since I was a little girl. At one point I was wishing for my blanket to cover my head and hide my eyes with. I do not have one bad thing to say abut this movie. It was great.

The entire cast gave top-notch performances. Special notice goes to Vera Farmiga and Lili Taylor. These two woman were superb. They had great chemistry together and brought the movie to life.

I have to mention that as I sat waiting to see if there was anything after the credits I overheard a conversation between an older couple. The wife was actually crying because she had gotten so scared. She told her husband as she walked by me, “Don’t ever make me watch this again. I’m going to have bad dreams forever.”

The Conjuring rekindled my love for scary movies. Great job!
