Who You Gonna Call (again)? It’s time to really bust some heads, spiritually speaking. You might not want to re-trudge through the middle Ghostbuster movies, and it’s unclear what’s taking place in the same universe, but this is the week for rewatching—the very least—the classic from 1984. Yes, it was THAT long ago. Classic Movie Review – Ghostbusters This paranormal comedy is well written, well-acted, well-directed, and even throws interesting world-building into the supernatural stew. Ghostbusters, indeed, might be the world’s most entirely quotable film. (When someone asks you if you’re a god, what do you say?) |

Movie Review – Ghostbusters (2016 reboot) This is the one with an all-girl cast, but that’s not why it sucks. It’s loaded with great cameos, which is the real reason to consume this Ghostbuster movie at all. Is it better than Ghostbuster 2? Um…let’s give that a strong maybe. Grade: C- |

Epic cast reunions – Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, and more Watching this gives me the warm fuzzies. It’s so cool to see the cast of Ghostbusters reunited. To get a sense of their camaraderie—even after all these years — this is a joy to watch. |

Movie Review – The French Dispatch Our UK RunPeep Rob loved this new movie by Wes Anderson, and not just because he waited 2 years to see it! Grade: A |

Indie Movie Review – Tes Yeux Mourants/That Cold Dead Look in Your Eyes I wasn’t always sure what was happening in those old French films, but there was something that kept me coming back for more: style, story, atmosphere, sultry French actors — it’s hard to say exactly what it was — but it kept me going until the seventies arrived, bringing colour and Gérard Depardieu. Here’s another inscrutable French indie. Grade: C+ |
