RunPee’s Black Panther Extravaganza!

Black Panther resonated wildly with fans worldwide, and the inevitable sequel was eagerly awaited. Then real life took over with the untimely death of the heroic Chadwick Boseman. Speculation was rife as to the direction that would be taken: would the part of T’Challa be recast or would his absence be addressed in some way? This week we get to find out, and our newsletter is devoted to the people of Wakanda and the events therein.

We’ve included below all our previous Black Panther articles over the years, plus a quick link to the RunPee reviews of every MCU movie featuring BP, T’Challa, and Wakanda. We also have a new sub hub putting all of this in one place for ease of navigation on the RunPee blog. Enjoy~!

RunPee News

black panther and king T'Challa A Black Perspective on Black Panther

“Before the movie, everyone I knew was excited about it because it had a star-studded, largely black cast, in a Marvel movie by a black director. That’s why everyone, including myself, was so excited — and dressed up to see the film. It was also a big deal because superheroes are never not white. As a black actor in America (and most of the world), we are siloed into very specific roles. So to see all of these actors placed into such diverse roles was already a fulfillment.” – RunPeep Shani Ogilvie

How To Dress Like You’re From Wakanda

It’s not all armour! As the sequel is actually set in Wakanda, you’ll be wanting to dress the part as so many did for the original movie’s first release. Here’s how to join the party.

All The Stars – Video & Lyrics

Let’s go through the song that plays over the closing credits of Black Panther.

Does Killmonger Have A Point?

He was abandoned and felt a wee bit ticked off about it! So…does he have a point?

First Look At The Black Panther Trailer

Oh my word…this seems so long ago! A quick look at the BP trailer.

What You Need To Know About Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

It’ll be interesting to see how accurate we were when we see it on Friday! Read what Rob was able to dig up.

Captain America: Civil War

The first time we get to see T’Challa, and it just so happens to be one of the best Avengers films made. Rob and Jill did an official rewatch last night and it’s even better than we remembered.

Still wonder why it’s billed as a Captain America film and not just, you know, Avengers
Grade: A-

Black Panther

The origin story! Rob and Jill are giving this a must-see re-watch today before we go and get Peetimes for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Please do the same for yourself.
Grade: A

Avengers: Infinity War

Up until this time, the MCU was running on all cylinders. Infinity War knocked them all out of the park.
Grade: A++

Avengers: Endgame

One of the most outstanding movie theater “experiences” ever in the history of ever. Did you get to see this on the first night with everyone cheering and crying and losing their collective minds? Jill will never forget that night and hopes you fondly remember yours.
Grade: A++

What If…?

Chadwick’s last time as T’Challa. He’s got two excellent, heroic episodes that must be seen. So much more poignant in retrospect. You might need a couple of tissues, but you’ll also cheer.

Recommendation: just watch them. Our review will help you navigate the ones he’s in.

banshees movie ireland The Banshees of Inisherin

Banshees is a great movie, well writ, with outstanding acting and scenery. It’s also a very difficult watch and is by no means the light comedy it’s billed as. Jill wouldn’t call it a tear-jerker, but parts are devastating. Some events are horrific. If you like dark comedy, this is perhaps among the darkest.

Obviously, this isn’t a Black Panther movie and might seem out of place in this BP-themed newsletter, but Banshees has been attracting a lot of favorable attention and we’ve been remiss in not having Peetimes until just now.

Movie Grade: A-
