Does creativity equal a great movie? Well, not in this case.
Director Boots Riley is known for his wildly imaginative and over-the-top creativity in filmmaking, and this movie is packed with it. Some of the visuals (one scene in particular, and you’ll know it when you see it) are pretty incredible. In fact, it’s kind of amazing that he can get a film like this made and released on Memorial Day weekend, no less.
A story of a group of women (including KeKe Palmer) who boost — steal and then sell — upscale clothing is turned into a crazy fantasy of revenge against the high-class owner of a fashion brand (Demi Moore). It’s one crazy thing after another, and I have to give it to him for throwing a million different things at the wall.

The performances were fun; KeKe Palmer continues to prove she’s a star. However, I just never really cared about the story. Granted, I’m not exactly the target audience for this movie, but I’m a sucker for movies that try different things, and this certainly did that. However, by the last 30 minutes, I was just waiting for it all to end.
Good for everyone involved for trying something different. But it just didn’t take for me.

Brilliant idea with great information
I’ve been using RunPee for a few years now and it’s basically a requirement of going to the movies for me. The best part of course are the “pee times” that give you cues, synopses and times for when you can pee without missing the most important parts of the movie. There is also information about the credits- length, extras and if there are any extra scenes at the wayyy end. Super helpful to just know that it is or isn’t worth staying. There is a timer function that will buzz your phone when it’s a good time to pee. I also appreciate that the app is very conscientious about it being an app you use in a theater- dark background, all silent alarms etc. I will always enjoy the experience of the theater even if I could watch things at home- but I’ve even used it at home to check for things like after credit scenes or other information too.
