Spider-Man: Brand New Day just crossed $2.5 billion worldwide, built on a $360 million opening weekend that broke Avengers: Endgame’s domestic record. Deadline’s full breakdown of the records it set reads like a franchise flexing every muscle it has at once. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has already passed $1 billion and sits as the second highest-grossing video game adaptation ever made, trailing only the original Super Mario Bros. Movie’s $1.36 billion. The Odyssey has cleared $1.7 billion. Toy Story 5 is past $1.1 billion. Mortal Kombat II kept the gaming-to-screen pipeline moving back in May, even on a smaller scale. Four franchise films clearing a billion dollars in the same calendar year isn’t a fluke, it’s what happens when IP gets built to travel between formats, audiences and platforms without losing the thing that made people show up for it in the first place.
And travel it does, well past the cinema. Mario’s billion-dollar run exists because Nintendo moves the same characters between games and films and back again, with Mario Kart and Luigi’s Mansion adaptations already in development. That same cross-media logic runs straight into the casino slot catalog, where studios license the same franchises that fill theaters onto the reels. Casinos.com’s current guide to real money online casinos tracks exactly which regulated sites carry that licensed content and where it’s actually legal to play it, a distinction that matters more than the slot art usually lets on. Only eight states, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and West Virginia, run fully regulated online casino markets right now, so the franchise catalog looks identical from one operator’s lobby to the next while the legal ground underneath it is anything but. Any ranking of the best US casino sites is only as useful as that legality check underneath it.
The games themselves back this up, and they’re more specific than most people expect. Jumanji is a NetEnt release built around the 1995 film’s board-game chaos, right down to the rhino stampede and a Board Game bonus round with four separate free spins modes. Beetlejuice Megaways carries an official Light & Wonder license and the same crooked-staircase, striped-suit visual language as the Tim Burton original, running across a 248,832-ways engine that shifts with every spin. Rocky, from Playtech, puts Balboa’s entrance walk and that horn-heavy score behind a five-reel, 25-payline game with free spins tied to the fight sequences. None of these are knockoffs riding on a trademark loophole; they’re licensed deals between the studios that made the movies and the gaming companies that build the slots, which is also why titles disappear the moment a trademark lapses rather than living forever once they’re made.

GTA 6 launches November 19, and longtime players keep asking the same question that has nothing to do with the map size or the radio stations: does Rockstar bring back anything resembling the Diamond Casino & Resort, the real-money gambling expansion that became one of the most-played additions in GTA Online’s history after it launched in July 2019. Take-Two’s own pre-order announcement confirms the November date but stays quiet on that detail, which has not stopped years of speculation across the GTA community. It lands three months after Spider-Man finishes its theatrical run and right in the thick of the holiday release calendar, so 2026’s franchise pipeline isn’t slowing down into next year either.
I reviewed Resident Evil the week it opened, and the thing that stuck with me wasn’t the zombies, it was how cleanly Zach Cregger’s film threaded video game logic into movie logic without either side feeling like an afterthought, the same instinct we broke down in our Resident Evil review. That’s the whole story of 2026 in miniature: a franchise built in one medium finding its footing in another, then another, until it shows up somewhere you didn’t expect to see it, a casino reel included. Studios have been licensing slot themes since Playtech’s Marvel deal over a decade ago, but this year made the scale of it impossible to miss. If you caught Resident Evil or the Mario Galaxy Movie this year, you’ve already seen half of this franchise’s reach. The other half is sitting on a reel somewhere, carrying the exact license you paid to see in a theater a few months earlier, waiting for the next film in the same franchise to send a new wave of fans looking for it.

RunPee is an excellent app that has all the info you need when going to the movies. Whenever I go to a movie, I open up the app and know when the best time to dip to the bathroom is. They have pee times for movies just a few hours after their release and it shows the dedication the team has for the service. Definitely recommend for any movie-goer.
