Peter Miles was 14 years old — almost 15 — at the time of his father’s fatal crash. Shortly after his father’s death, Peter went to work for Ken’s friend Dick Troutman at the Troutman and Barnes custom car shop in Culver City, CA. Peter worked there for 14 years.
Peter joined Precision Performance Inc. in 1986. He started out as a fabricator, and then became a mechanic, before advancing to the position of crew chief. Peter was the crew chief for Ivan Stewart when Stewart won the 1991 Nissan 400 in Nevada.
In a 2019 interview, Peter revealed that the last time he went to Le Mans was in 1965 with his father Ken.

Movie Watching Must Have!!
I go feral for this app. I love it so much and I wish everyone knew about it and used it. It is incredibly useful and I would be devastated if this app ever disappeared. Things I love: 1) the pee times! It’s so handy to know the best time to go and then read the synopsis of what’s happening while I’m gone. I never have to worry about missing the good bits! 2) knowing if there is a post-credits scene or not. This might be my fav feature because I would have missed out on some pretty critical scenes if it weren’t for RunPee. 3) the movie review and viewer rankings. This info has made me watch some movies that I normally wouldn’t and it’s nice seeing things outside of my usual scope. 4) that it’s a small family run business. I remember that car well ! Peter and I were neighbors in the Hollywood hills (early 70’s) and he came over one day and introduced himself because I had a 67 Cooper S that caught his eye. We became friends and he frequently helped me with my mini and even gave me a few driving lessons. He had this little monster Renault 4c at the time that he built to the gills. I think it was after he started at Troutman Barnes he got the 914-6. It had many upgraded bits on it that were cast offs from the “big” Porsche’s that were being modded for racing. He took me for a few rides in that little beast. It was the first time I really went fast ! Then one day he showed up in a little red Japanese pick up and I asked where’s the Porsche? He had to sell it because he got married etc…….. he was heart broken & so was I.
BTW- If anybody has ANY contact info on him, I’d really like to get in touch just to say hello and thank him for helping me out so much way back when.

Neat thread! I’m glad that the trauma of losing his dad to racing didn’t keep him from honoring his father by following in his footsteps with performance autos.
