Movie Review - Last Voyage of the Demeter
The Last Voyage of the Demeter was amazing. I loved the way it kept the feel of an old horror classic. The movie concept was taken from a chapter within Dracula called, "The Captain's Log." That's pretty crafty in my opinion.
I was not familiar with any of the cast off the top of my head. Even though I didn't recognize anyone they all did a fabulous job. The characters were all so very unique that there was plenty of room for the cast to showcase their abilities. I'm curious if anyone else will pick up on this but as I was watching the movie and Captain Eliot (Liam Cunningham) would speak, all I could hear was Liam Neeson. I'm sitting here in my chair right now laughing because I just discovered they also share a name. I didn't know that until 45 seconds ago.
The Demeter itself, I want. Talk about a cool set. I could almost smell the wood and sea during the show. They did a great job.
If you're interested in Dracula, love the high seas, and crave adventure, then I highly recommend this movie.

Plot Based on a single chapter, the Captain's Log, from Bram Stoker's classic 1897 novel Dracula, the story is set aboard the Russian schooner Demeter, which was chartered to carry private cargo - twenty-four unmarked wooden crates - from Carpathia to London. The film will detail the strange events that befell the doomed crew as they attempt to survive the ocean voyage, stalked each night by a terrifying presence on board the ship. When it finally arrived near Whitby Harbour, it was a derelict. There was no trace of the crew.
