Bring Her Back should have been a homerun for me. After trashing A24’s earlier films so badly they actually contacted me (yes, that really happened), recent gems like The Iron Claw and X had completely won me over. When I heard the Philippou brothers – who delivered the brilliant Talk to Me – were back with another A24 horror film, I was genuinely excited.
Unfortunately, this one nearly sent me back to A24 purgatory. My ten-year-old granddaughter, who’s sat through every horror movie with me without flinching, had to nudge me awake twice. That should tell you everything.

While Sally Hawkins delivers a committed performance in her first horror role, and the film reportedly contains some genuinely disturbing moments that other critics are raving about, the pacing drags considerably compared to Talk to Me‘s tight 94-minute runtime. The grief-driven storyline lacks the immediate hook that made their debut so compelling.
Here’s my main takeaway: if you’re daring enough to see this one, plan on watching it twice. Maybe there are layers I missed in my half-conscious state, but right now it feels like a significant step backward from directors who had me believing A24 could do no wrong.
What people are saying
about the RunPee app.
This is a great app. I wish more people would support it
This app provides info about movies, reviews, ratings from people who have seen it before and after viewing. It has links to info about the movies. It let's you know when there will be a lull in the action and how long it will last. If you want to know what happens during that time, you can check the brief synopsis (you have to click a link, so no accidental spoilers). It has a timer you can set (silent) to alert you to a break. It also tells you whether there is anything extra during or after the credits. It's really a wonderful app. I've subscribed for a couple of years to support the developers, but I noticed some of the links to provide feedback didn't seem to work today. They also made it free, with voluntary donations to see the pee-times. If you haven't tried it, I encourage you to do so, and subscribe if you like it. I really hope the app is supported so it can continue to be maintained!
Developers note: RunPee doesn't make much money but it supports itself nicely. Donations are appreciated, but not required. We'll add as many movies to the database as we can until there are no more movie theaters.

About The Peetimes: I found 2 moments that were easy to keep up with. The first Peetime has a poignant conversation afterwards, so be mindful of your time limit.
There are no extra scenes during, or after, the end credits of Bring Her Back.

Plot
A brother and sister uncover a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother.
RunPee.com owes RunPee Sis a huge debt of gratitude. She sees any movie needed with no complaints and has done so for ten years (even basing Thanksgiving and Christmas family festivities around the seeing films). In 2015 Sis ran the entire RunPee enterprise herself, while RunPee Dan, Jilly and Mom went traipsing off to Europe. Sis is the spider in the web holding the RunPee family together — besides being a funny, well rounded person, and a joyous pleasure to be around. Her favorite films start and end with horror (which thank goodness she’s happy to see, since most of us don’t have the stomach for it) — but also likes silly comedies, sad dramas, and musicals of all types. If you’ve used a Peetime for a scary film, you probably have RunPee Sis to thank for it.
Favorite movie genre: Horror, horror, and more horror. The more disturbing, the better. Period.
