I love the animation style. It reminds me of the Spiderverse animated movies, but maybe a little more unhinged.
The voice acting and corresponding animation were really good. Is it strange that animated actors are usually better than real life actors?

Audience
I know this probably seems like it’s a kid’s movie, but I didn’t see it that way. I think young adult would be more the target audience. That is the age of the main characters throughout most of the movie.
The Story
This is a bit of a letdown for me. Before seeing the movie I read that it was getting good reviews from the critics. I was hoping for a Pixar with a bite movie. What I got out of it was a frenetic story that ended with many major storylines left loose. Also, many of the ancillary characters didn’t feel like they added anything important to the story. Bungi, the truffles, Prince Mermahn, and obviously the starfish, could have all been left out and I think the movie would have been better for it.

RunPee is an excellent app that has all the info you need when going to the movies. Whenever I go to a movie, I open up the app and know when the best time to dip to the bathroom is. They have pee times for movies just a few hours after their release and it shows the dedication the team has for the service. Definitely recommend for any movie-goer.

I don’t understand what Manang is supposed to represent. She *feels* like the villain, especially in the trailers. But I don’t get what her character represents. She has an arc, but we don’t know what happens to her and what memory was stolen from her. The point of that character is lost on me. Did I miss something? If so, please educate me in the comments.
Comedy?
Forgotten Island is listed as a comedy, but I think they mistook silly for funny. I didn’t find anything to laugh at. I cringed a few times, when they tried to be funny. Does that count? 🙂

Plot
While celebrating their last night together, high school graduates and best friends Jo and Raissa stumble upon a mysterious portal that transports them to the fantastical island of Nakali.
