Movie Review – Elio

This was not Pixar’s best, but admittedly, that is a high bar. The moral of the story is good, not great. My complaint is that this isn’t nearly as compelling to adults, at least to me and my wife, as many of the Pixar movies are. However, there were about a dozen kids in the theater who applauded at the end, so at least it appeals to the younger crowd, which is the most important thing.

Frenetic

I noticed the pacing in Elio is often frenetic, which isn’t the case for most Pixar movies. The best of the Pixar movies have a thoughtful pace and rely on emotional attachment to characters to grab the attention of kids instead of relying on hijinks, which is most of what this movie does.

About The Peetimes: It was hard to find Peetimes. The story cuts from one short scene to another. I tried to keep out the action scenes, but it’s not completely possible.

I think the 1st or 3rd Peetime is the best.

There are extra scenes during, or after, the end credits of Elio.

5 thoughts on “Movie Review – Elio”

  1. After the credits is a thank you to Pixar, the Disney castle logo and a short scene previewing the Puxar movie Hoppers

  2. This review just cuts off without finishing the thought about the plot. What happened to the rest?

  3. Looks like that was part of the movie details in the database, because going to the info section instead of this review section also ends the plot with “…” instead of probably just “to be.”
