Come Play wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either. We’ll break this one down into what was right and what was wrong.

Azhy Robertson, playing Oliver did fantastic. I can see him doing well for himself.
The concept of the monster was new. I liked how they used today’s technology to bring it to life. The underlying message of just wanting to be liked and fit in was well stated.
The effects were cool. One scene in particular where they used wind and trash to create the visual of the unseen monster was neat.
Wrong:
Gillian Jacobs as Sarah, Oliver’s mom, was terrible. I’m sorry, but no mother out there would make the decisions she did. She felt forced and entirely unbelievable. My dislike of her performance marred the entire movie for me. I couldn’t get passed her really bad acting.
I’d take or leave this movie. Stream it in the comfort of your own home, it’s worthy of that.

Got this back when I was pregnant, but I’ll be keeping it forever, it’s just so handy. I don’t go to the movie theater that often (even back before quarantine when you actually could…) but I make sure the app and the movie list are all current and updated, cause it’s so handy! It’s great for running late cause you can read their summary, obviously awesome for bathroom or snack breaks mid movie, and I also love that it tells you if there’s anything after the credits which is very handy.

About The Peetimes: Come Play is fairly short so I submitted one Peetime. It comes right before all the major action starts.
There are no extra scenes during, or after, the end credits of Come Play. (What we mean by Anything Extra.)
