Movie Review – A Love Song

Faye (Dale Dickey) is biding her time fishing, birding, and stargazing at a rural Colorado campground as she awaits the arrival of Lito (Wes Studi), a figure from her past. It has been many decades since the last time they saw each other. They reminisce on what their life was back then. The conversation slowly reveals to us and each other some of the things that have happened in the passing decades. Rekindling a friendship they had when they were younger. Possibly even rekindling some of the feelings they had back then. All the while enjoying the campsite and scenery around them. Sit back, relax and let the movie flow at its pace. But pay attention and be present.

This is definitely a slow-burn movie. Full of nuance and subtlety and plenty of quiet moments of reflection. Don’t be distracted or on your phone while watching this movie, if you really want to get the most out of it. Both actors convey so much complexity and emotion so subtly, it was great. There will definitely be people that won’t like the pace of this movie. But not every movie needs to be “go go go go”. We need to take the time to appreciate and reflect on what’s happening. This movie does it wonderfully. The more I reflect on the movie. The better the rating is getting. A Love Song is a perfect name for this movie. That reminds us that love can nourish and mystify us at any age.

About The Peetimes: This movie it’s full of nuance and subtlety. I did find 2 Peetimes and tried to convey some of the nuances in the description as well. I recommend the 2nd peetime as it’s longer before we start wrapping up to the end of the movie.

There are no extra scenes during, or after, the end credits of A Love Song.

Run Peep in training. A long-time movie lover that enjoys a wide variety of films. Usually easy-going about films and gives them a lot of slack. If you can’t enjoy them for what they present to the audience, try to enjoy them by laughing at their bad effort. Let’s go enjoy the movies.
