To quote Steve Martin in, “The Jerk,” I was born a poor black child…
Not really.
I’ve been an Oklahoman all my life – Oklahoma City the first half, Tulsa the second. When I was 16, I began my love of movies by becoming an usher at a new AMC theatre. I worked in a couple of theatres through high school and college as staff, and when I graduated from OU, a management position opened up. Worked for AMC for 21 years total!
After that long, the work conditions (nights, weekends, holidays, working with teenagers, dealing with thousands of attendance daily) wore me down and I moved on…but my love of movies continues to this day.
As a senior manager at a 20-plex in Tulsa, I built and created an amazing independent film program, communicating with thousands of fellow indie fans via email each week. So that’s where my love of indies shoots from.
But I ain’t no film snob. I love practically all kinds of movies (horror doesn’t usually connect with me, although I LOVE “The Blair Witch Project,” the original “Halloween” and “The Shining”).
I also absolutely adore re-releases – getting to see older movies on a big screen like they should be seen is the best. In 2025, I saw 12 old movies on screens, including classics like, “Se7en,” “Batman (‘89),” “Back to the Future,” “Annie Hall, and even “The Rocky Horror Picture Show!”
I’m currently driving for Uber/Lyft since I’m “between jobs,” but I’m still managing to see 1-3 movies a week in theatres.
I’ve loved using RunPee while watching hundreds of movies, and I’m so excited to be writing for them as well!
