If you’ve seen Bohemian Rhapsody, you may be wondering if you’re hearing Rami Malek’s voice during the musical numbers. The answer is a little bit “yes” and a little bit “no.” As amazing as Malek’s voice is, we’re talking about duplicating Freddie Mercury here. No small feat. There’s no shame in being one of a chorus of voices needed to recreate the masterful range of Mercury.
In an interview with Metro USA, Malek confirmed he did sing some of the songs. Malek said, “It is an amalgamation of a few voices. But predominantly, it is my hope and the hope of everyone that we will hear as much Freddie as possible.”
The mixed vocal doesn’t feature on the film’s soundtrack, which is solely of original Queen recordings.

I go feral for this app. I love it so much and I wish everyone knew about it and used it. It is incredibly useful and I would be devastated if this app ever disappeared. Things I love: 1) the pee times! It’s so handy to know the best time to go and then read the synopsis of what’s happening while I’m gone. I never have to worry about missing the good bits! 2) knowing if there is a post-credits scene or not. This might be my fav feature because I would have missed out on some pretty critical scenes if it weren’t for RunPee. 3) the movie review and viewer rankings. This info has made me watch some movies that I normally wouldn’t and it’s nice seeing things outside of my usual scope. 4) that it’s a small family run business. I love the movie. It was Excellent. I didn’t know anything about Farouk Balsara until I saw the film. I would like to see another movie about Freddie and Queen and Mary Austin. What happened to her and where is she now? It’s too bad she didn’t get pregnant. We might not have lost this musical genius.
Mary asked Freddie about having a child, he replied he’d rather have another cat – she got him one. Freddie left the bulk of his estate to Mary, plus 50% of all his royalties. This past September (2023) she had Sothby’s auction off the furnishings of his home, Garden Lodge, which he’d also left to her and where she has lived since his death.
