I thought The Wolverine was good, but forgettable. I doubt if I’ll ever want to watch it again, even on DVD. If I do it will be for the character Yukio (Rila Fukushima), the girl with the red highlights. She was a pleasant addition to the story and I love the way she fights.
The story had it’s moments but ultimately lead to a predictable, over the top, ending. But, it’s a superhero movie so we should be surprised when that doesn’t happen. I should mention that the plot and character motivation was easy to follow. The writers/director did a good job of pacing and supporting each scene.

The action was good, for the most part. It’s fun to watch Logan go toe to toe in a fight with ninja/samurai. I know it’s a matter of taste but I prefer fights that show creativity, and improvisation – such as Yukio’s fighting style – as opposed to Wolverine’s somewhat clumsy approach of wildly slashing, punching. That being said the fight on top of the train was entertaining.
The humor was about what you would expect. Logan has his funny quips here and there but nothing that was outrageously funny.
The acting was more than adequate. Of course Hugh Jackman is awesome and gives Wolverine a range that few actors can achieve with superhero characters. Rila Fukushima, as Yukio, did a surprisingly good job considering her IMDb filmography consists of one other short film and some music videos. On the opposite side I thought the character Viper was horrible. I’m not sure if it was the acting or the writing but one or both fell short, big time.
