If you’re not a Lion King fan, then I think you’ll find the 2019 live action (CGI, really) version more enjoyable than the animated one, based on more humor and the outstanding cinematography.
For my part, I feel a little numb because I effectively watched the movie three times today working on the Peetimes. And, until two nights ago, I hadn’t seen the animated Lion King since it first came out in the 90s.
The CGI is outstanding. There wasn’t a single moment where I could tell that something wasn’t real. Of course, the animal talking is unavoidably clumsy because animals don’t have the anatomy to actually talk. But I didn’t find it distracting.

The script has been revised slightly to make it more contemporary and add a little more humor. And the voice cast is top-shelf.
Speaking of humor: Seth Rogen, as the voice for Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as the voice for Timon, absolutely carried the movie. John Oliver as Zazu was a perfect choice; I just wish the writers had given him one five second rant to enjoy.

Movie Watching Must Have!!
I go feral for this app. I love it so much and I wish everyone knew about it and used it. It is incredibly useful and I would be devastated if this app ever disappeared. Things I love: 1) the pee times! It’s so handy to know the best time to go and then read the synopsis of what’s happening while I’m gone. I never have to worry about missing the good bits! 2) knowing if there is a post-credits scene or not. This might be my fav feature because I would have missed out on some pretty critical scenes if it weren’t for RunPee. 3) the movie review and viewer rankings. This info has made me watch some movies that I normally wouldn’t and it’s nice seeing things outside of my usual scope. 4) that it’s a small family run business. I love shopping small and it really does feel like I’m part of the RunPee family! If you reach out to them, Dan will personally respond to you and he is so warm and helpful. GET THIS APP AND THEN SUBSCRIBE! It is absolutely worth it and you’ll be using it again and again!

I’m bummed they didn’t bring back Whoopi Goldberg for Shenzi the hyena, but at least they had “the voice” as Mufasa: James Earl Jones.
Grade: B
About The Peetimes: I would recommend either of the first two Peetimes.
There are no extra scenes during, or after, the end credits of The Lion King. (What we mean by Anything Extra.)
Rated (PG) for sequences of violence and peril, and some thematic elements
Genres: Adventure, Animation, Drama, Remake

Creator and developer of the RunPee app. When something doesn’t work right in the app it’s pretty much his fault. 🙂
Aspiring author. Would like to finish his “Zombie Revelations” trilogy if he could break away for working on RunPee and the cottage he’s building for RunPee Mom.

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen the animated version. Just this year I was able to see the Broadway stage show. So I have anxiously awaited this version. I couldn’t wait so, I went last night to see it in 3D. It was fantastic. I’ll see it again in 2D. Thanks for your peetimes. I will use them at the 2D. I didn’t want to miss a single second last night. The message is timeless. “Remember who you are,” something I told my kids every single time they walked out of our home. Honor your name.
That’s awesome. I’m really glad that as a longtime fan you’re not disappointed. It really sucks when someone takes something beloved and massacres *cough Star Wars cough*.
That’s a great message to send your kids out with. 🙂
Oh Dan, I have to *cough cough* agree on Star Wars. The best trilogy ever….sometimes new and awesome technology doesn’t mean better.
