Space Jam: A New Legacy is exactly as cheesy as you might expect; but it also pokes fun of itself, and LeBron, in a really charming way. LeBron is… Well he’s LeBron. There weren’t any cringe-worthy moments you might expect from a superstar athlete trying to crossover into acting. Crossover, see what I did there? 🙂 (That was cringe-worthy, I know.)
Let’s put it this way, there’s no one else in the world who could have done a better job in his role. So you have to hand it to him. He’s the best in the world at being himself.

And that’s what the movie is all about: being yourself. It’s a common trope among children’s movies. But I think it’s worth retelling the story over and over because it’s important for kids to find their the confidence to be who they can be.
The great thing is that any adult with kids will be old enough to really appreciate the humor that is peppered throughout the movie. There’s nothing really hilarious, but there are countless references throughout to appreciate. They even dip into the Paramount Studios properties with a reference to Star Trek.
Grade: A
