If ‘Marlowe’ were shown in the 1930s or 40s it would keep the theaters packed for weeks. That’s how well Neil Jordan pulled off this film noir movie. The pacing was spot-on for a movie of this kind, and the directing was pretty good. The writing stayed true to the film noir feel, using well-worn phrases of the time. That being said, this is 2023, and the Golden Age of Hollywood that embraced this style has long since passed. Only the die-hard fans of film noir would enjoy Marlowe.
Those who came to watch Liam Neeson’s particular set of acting skills, that is, making the bad guys wish they’d never crossed paths with this nightmare won’t be disappointed. Jessica Lang was excellent, but really, I’ve never seen her massacre a role. Just put a script in her hands and she owns her part. The remaining cast did a fine job as well.

Even though Marlowe lacks the appeal of L.A. Confidential or Black Dahlia, it still held my interest throughout the movie.
Grade: B-
About The Peetimes: I found 2 really good Peetimes. I’d recommend the 2nd Peetime, it is much longer than the first Peetime.
There are no extra scenes during, or after, the end credits of Marlowe.
