There are plenty of movies that have probably gone under your radar in recent years, and Jerry & Marge Go Large could be one of them. It didn’t have a theatrical release and instead dropped on Paramount+ in 2022.
The movie centers on an everyday couple who win big on the lottery, and its relatable themes make it a great option for all sorts of viewers.

Lottery Theme Will Resonate With Many
Even though millions of people play the lottery around the world, there’s a surprising lack of movies that deal with what might actually happen in winning cases. Around 181 million people in the USA play the Powerball lottery every year, and 13 percent of adults play every month.
People who play scratch cards make up another section of the lottery playing population, and these have been made more accessible in recent years thanks to online gambling sites offering them. Players can choose between different themed cards such as Cash Pong and Crack the Code, and they scratch away at the virtual surface just as they would with a physical card.
Anyone who’s played the lottery or scratch cards before will have fantasized about winning and imagined what they would have done with the windfall. The great thing about Jerry & Marge Go Large is that it crafts a highly relatable narrative as the couple played by Bryan Cranston and Annette Bening are just normal people, like the average viewer, so when they hit the big money on the lottery, they act in much the same way most people probably would.
Bryan Cranston in a Delightful Role
Bryan Cranston is best known for his role as Walter White, but it’s nice to see him taking on parts that are completely different to that of the criminal kingpin. In Jerry & Marge Go Large, he plays a retiree with a new lease on life after winning the lottery. He manages to make the character feel recognizable and grounded, just as you’d expect an everyday guy to be. This makes it easier for audiences to imagine themselves in his shoes.

My bladder thanks you so much!! App works great for telling u when and for how long you have a pee break! I didn’t use the timer function so the dialog in the movie was a great clue as to when to go. I also liked the info about each movie to know whether there was any extra scenes during or after the credits. Nothing worse than waiting for all the credits and then no extra scene.

Cranston’s presence here is complemented well by Bening’s performance as Marge in this David Frankel-directed picture, the two making a couple so believable you’ll have to remind yourself they aren’t married in real life. Indeed, the film working as well as it does owes a lot to this on-screen chemistry, and it’s clear that the two were perfectly cast.
Should You Watch the Movie?
If you’re a lottery player who loves imagining what you’d do with lifechanging sums, you’ll probably appreciate Jerry & Marge Go Large more than most. Along with the sheer likeability of the leads, it also explores other themes of community and generosity that will appeal to a wider scope of viewers.
Jerry & Marge Go Large is one of those lighthearted dramas with just the right amount of humor that’s hard not to like. It’s especially appealing for anyone who enjoys stories about clever solutions and small-town charm. However, if you don’t already have a Paramount+ subscription, you may find the film alone isn’t worth acquiring one. Therefore, if you want to see it, you’ll want to check what other content is already available on the platform and perhaps even wait for more films to be added before making the purchase.
