I’ve noticed something over the years. I can’t put numbers on it, but it seems to me that there just aren’t that many movie scripts that put many demands on the actors. Perhaps that’s because there are so many superhero movies these days. Don’t get me wrong, there are some great actors in superhero movies, but the scripts rarely demand their best work.
This script has meat on the bone for any hungry actor. One scene after another demanded the very best from all the actors. Everyone from Dave Bautista to Kristen Cui (the little girl) was fantastic.
The story is basically a live-action version of the game Scruples—where you ask people what they would do in specific situations. Props to Shyamalan, et al. for resisting the urge to add unnecessary complexity. There’s no need to explain the hows and whys of what’s going on.
Is it Gory?
If you’ve seen many of Shyamalan’s movies you’ll know that he’s not a big fan of gore. I can’t remember a movie of his that ever displayed body horror. The violence in Knock at the Cabin is entirely, or nearly entirely, out of the frame of the camera. I saw the movie alone and was wringing my hands many times. But there was never any imagery that I felt was disturbing.
Grade: A
About The Peetimes: There are a LOT of tense scenes in this movie that made it difficult to find good Peetimes. All of the Peetimes I found center around flashbacks to Andrew and Eric’s life leading up to the present because each is easy to summarize.
There are extra scenes during, or after, the end credits of Knock at the Cabin.

Water drinkers unite
Run pee is the best app for people who find themselves needing to pee a lot but also not wanting to miss any action. The app gives you the best times to use the bathroom during a movie while also telling you when to leave and which lines to listen for! It not only gives you the time you should go pee, but it also explains to you what is happening during the break. I helped I use this app every time I go to the movies now. My god father recommended this app to 5 years ago and it’s been in my phone ever since! Highly recommended.
