There’s lots of fun to be had in glamorous casino venues, but you don’t have to visit them in person to appreciate the thrill they offer. You can appreciate their temptations from the comfort of home while watching great movies that are set in Vegas’ gambling dens. If you’re looking for suggestions, we’ve got a couple of great ones lined up right here.
Ocean’s Eleven (2001)
It’s a rather interesting twist that the best casino movie happens to be the one about making off with all of their ill-gotten gains. This 2001 classic puts George Clooney and Brad Pitt together at the peak of their popularity, as their characters take up a seemingly impossible task: hit three major Las Vegas casinos in one night. The rest of the star-studded cast gets recruited and we see the eleven co-conspirators come up with a daring plan. As to whether the plan works? You’ll just have to see the flick and find out.

This is a great app. I wish more people would support it
This app provides info about movies, reviews, ratings from people who have seen it before and after viewing. It has links to info about the movies. It let's you know when there will be a lull in the action and how long it will last. If you want to know what happens during that time, you can check the brief synopsis (you have to click a link, so no accidental spoilers). It has a timer you can set (silent) to alert you to a break. It also tells you whether there is anything extra during or after the credits. It's really a wonderful app. I've subscribed for a couple of years to support the developers, but I noticed some of the links to provide feedback didn't seem to work today. They also made it free, with voluntary donations to see the pee-times. If you haven't tried it, I encourage you to do so, and subscribe if you like it. I really hope the app is supported so it can continue to be maintained!

Casino Royale (2006)
Perhaps the best-known James Bond movie and one that launched Daniel Craig into the spotlight is 2006’s Casino Royale. Despite some controversies about a new direction for Bond, the movie did quite well, owing to the push-and-pull between Bond and his nemesis, La Chiffre. The final conflict between the two happens at the Casino Royale in Montenegro, where Le Chiffre organizes a poker tournament to raise $100 million. It’s a Bond movie, so obviously Bond wins and gets the girl, but the journey there is one you shouldn’t miss.
Casino (1995)
Martin Scorsese’s 1995 Casino is a movie that’s aged like fine wine. It was received well enough when it came out, but it was only in later years that it was recognized as the more accomplished and mature movie compared to Goodfellas. Robert De Niro’s character is sent to run a mob-owned casino, and we follow his escapades for the remainder of the movie. It shows the seedy reality of mafia life, with quick money giving way to violence, addiction, threats, and more. It’s a movie best experienced blind, so if you haven’t seen it yet, you owe it to yourself to give it a try.
21 (2008)
When we think of heists, we usually picture guns, stealth, and lots of risk. However, Robert Luketic’s 2008 movie 21 takes a different approach. It follows the MIT Blackjack Team, a group of students led by Professor Micky Rosa who discover a way to beat blackjack using card counting and covert signals. The team puts their skills to the test soon, flying to Las Vegas and raking in the cash. However, drama between team members and the watchful eye of a casino’s head of security throws a wrench in the works, setting up the plot for a highly memorable movie.
