IDIOTS has an interesting backstory.

Originally announced in 2017 under the title THE SH!THE@DS, the film was to star Tracy Morgan and Luke Wilson. They eventually dropped out, and the project spent the next several years on the drawing board before getting back on track last year.

The movie made its debut at Sundance in 2026 under its original title. In April, it got a more audience-friendly title — IDIOTS.

The acting in IDIOTS was okay, but nothing spectacular. O’Shea Jackson Jr. stood out for me as Davis, a guy with a good heart who just can’t seem to catch a lucky break.

This app is the best wingman for a movie goer, especially when you have to go. It even has a vibrating timer that is spot on for those 'go times' some of us need! There are many other features that are wonderful. It even lets you know when the kill scenes are coming up for the people and animals for those who may have sensitivities to that type of content. The staff go above and beyond!

Dave Franco plays Davis’ partner, Mark, a stoner who takes life one day at a time and has little in the way of prospects for the future. Every time he was on screen, though, I couldn’t help but think of his brother in Pineapple Expess.

I was also surprised to see Peter Dinklage in this movie. Sometimes, a great actor simply finds himself in a not-so-great movie.

What follows is a road-trip comedy/chase movie that feels like a collection of small scenes tied together to get laughs or build suspense. They just didn’t work for me. Especially that scene between Irina and Sheridan. I’m still trying to figure that one out.

I just didn’t get it. If they were shooting for a new “straight man/funny man” buddy comedy, it missed the mark. The storyline never really found its rhythm.

I heard a few laughs from some ladies sitting a couple of rows in front of me, so somebody was enjoying it. And hey, nobody walked out — so that’s a good sign, right?

Then again, there were only five of us in the theater.

If you’re out with your buddies on a Saturday night, a few beers in and looking for something to pass the time, IDIOTS might do it for you.

Me? Nope.

Grade: D+

About The Peetimes: Davis says, “You’re a singer?” Irina responds, “Don’t look at me.”

There are extra scenes during, or after, the end credits of Idiots.
