I’ll admit, I know zero about wrestling or UFC. I’ve never heard of any of these characters before. I actually tried not to watch most of the fight scenes. They’re just too real and brutal.
What I liked the most were the character scenes, especially those between Mark Kerr (Dwayne Johnson) and Dawn (Emily Blunt). This is all based on a real story, and their relationship issues feel real. They both love each other and are trying to be good partners, but they also clash over their own emotional needs. In a way, this would be a great date movie if you like talking about how not to have a healthy relationship.

Acting
I thought Dwayne Johnson knocked it out of the park. This is the dramatic role that he is best suited to play because I’m sure he, more than most any other actor, can relate to much of what the real Mark Kerr went through. It’s easy to see how good Dwayne Johnson is in this role because he’s acting opposite Emily Blunt, who, of course, is her own version of a heavyweight. She handled her character with the depth that is expected, which shows just how well Dwayne did because there was never a moment that I thought Emily was carrying a scene. They both felt like equals, going toe-to-toe.
Grade: B
About The Peetimes: All three Peetimes are good, but I would recommend the middle one over the others.
There are a lot of dramatic scenes that I had to work around, so there is a long gap between the 1st and 2nd Peetimes.
There are extra scenes during, or after, the end credits of The Smashing Machine.

Plot
The story of mixed-martial arts and UFC champion Mark Kerr.
Creator and developer of the RunPee app. When something doesn’t work right in the app it’s pretty much his fault. 🙂
Aspiring author. Would like to finish his “Zombie Revelations” trilogy if he could break away for working on RunPee and the cottage he’s building for RunPee Mom.
