This movie was not worth the price of admission, and my ticket was free. The only entertaining thing about it was seeing it with my movie-amigo and making fun of all the ridiculousness. And it isn’t like I expected this movie to be great in the first place. I would have been impressed if it achieved a C-grade. But I was not impressed.
Action
There was a lot of action, so it’s inevitable that a few of the scenes would be decent. But that’s about as good as it gets. There was nothing worth sitting through this movie just to catch a few funny/painful action sequences.

I feel like I should say something about Josh Hartnett, since you know, he’s the star of the movie. I think he tried really hard to make a decent movie. There was just no hope that was ever going to happen with the script he had to work with. And even if there were some good acting moments early in the movie, the last 20 minutes of the movie would have erased them from your mind.
Acting
Before I tear down everyone else, I want to say that Charithra Chandran, who plays Isha, the female lead, was pretty decent. Her action scenes were surprisingly (almost) believable, and she brings genuine emotion to a role that doesn’t deserve it. In general, I could say the same thing for the other two flight attendant characters. They didn’t embarrass themselves, which in this movie is about the best you can hope for.
I don’t know which was more painful to watch: a scene where someone gets their knee bent backward or Katee Sackhoff’s acting. I have to say, I really like Sackhoff. I’m a huge BSG fan, and I absolutely adored her in Riddick. She gets a lot of negative reviews, but honestly, this one isn’t all on her because, oh lordy, the writing…
Writing
Before I rip this to shreds, I have to admit that I did laugh out loud a few times. Actually, all but one of my LOL moments were due to the horrible writing. But there was one little funny thing that worked, but you probably won’t get it unless you’re familiar with Windows OS.
The script for a movie is like the foundation of a building. You can’t build a building without having a solid foundation and you can’t make a good movie without a solid script. When a movie goes wrong, it’s easy to point fingers, but you have to start with the writing.
This was never going to be a great movie. There’s no John Wick hiding under a poorly written script here. But at its best, this script and movie could have been entertaining. There’s a seed of potential here. But it feels like a first draft of a script that needed about a dozen more drafts before it was polished.

about the RunPee app.

RunPee is one of my favourite apps. No more googling a film before you see it and risking spoilers, this app has everything you need to know, not just the best time to go to the toilet. Dan, the developer, also offers an amazing customer service experience. I recently switched phones, and Dan was very generous in sorting things out with me as I moved over to my current system. If you’re an avid film watcher, this is the app for you!

I’m not joking when I say I had to put my head down and laugh at how bad some of the scenes were written. And feel such sympathy for the actors who have to actually say some of these lines with a straight face, most often by Sackhoff.
Grade: F
Alternatives to watching this movie
If you’re in the mood for a good airplane thriller, save yourself the trouble and watch Air Force One, Non-Stop, or even the campy fun of Snakes on a Plane, or Con-Air instead. For a better showcase of Katee Sackhoff’s talents, return to Battlestar Galactica or check out her work in Another Life on Netflix. And if you’re interested in seeing more of Charithra Chandran’s potential, her performance in Bridgerton season two demonstrates what she can do with actual good material.
About The Peetimes: I recommend the second Peetime. It’s in the middle of the movie and there’s no action or exposition.
There are no extra scenes during, or after, the end credits of Fight or Flight.
