S1 E1 – Dungeons & Dragons: The Queen’s Cradle

16min (13+)
Plot: From the world of the seminal fantasy role-playing game, in celebration of its 50th year. On the hunt for a dragon cult, a band of adventurers rescues a boy who’s haunted by a sinister force.
Review: I must confess that I was lost on this one. I’ve never played D&D, so I have only cultural knowledge of it. The story felt like the origin story for a group of people and wasn’t completely self-contained. I think it was a poor story to lead off the series with. Something that feels more complete would have worked better.
Grade: ⭐⭐⭐

S1 E2 – Sifu: It Takes a Life

10min (16+)
Plot: Based on the indie tribute to classic kung-fu films. A young martial artist bent on revenge learns the true cost of his obsession.
Review: I like the animation style and the storytelling is subtle, yet obvious. It’s a pretty well-contained story with a short backstory added for context and a complete ending.
Grade: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

S1 E3 – New World: The Once and Future King

15min (16+)
Plot: Based on the action role-playing game. A conquering king washes ashore on a mysterious island with no army and no clue. He may need an eternity to find his purpose. Plot wise, this is a good episode for young adults, or maybe even kids.
Review: Funny thing, about one minute into the episode I said, that guy sounds like Arnold Schwarzenegger, and sure enough it is. My wife and I both loved this story. It’s funny and has a ground-hog day quality to it.
Grade: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

S1 E4 – Unreal Tournament: Xan

19min (13+)
Plot: The classic first-person shooter comes to life. After revolting against their corporate overlords, a group of mining robots is condemned to fight for survival in deadly arena combat.
Review: Another complete story that takes the robot-revolution in a direction that I didn’t anticipate.
Grade: ⭐⭐⭐1/2

S1 E5 – Warhammer 40,000: And They Shall Know No Fear

19min (16+)
Plot: In the grim darkness of the far future, a genetically-engineered warrior who has served on the front lines for centuries confronts his legacy, as his squad hunts down a mutant sorcerer.
Review: There are some amazing visuals. It is graphically violent. Among the most violent episodes of the series. My wife and I were really lost on what the plot of the story was, even after it finished.
Grade: ⭐⭐⭐

S1 E6 – PAC-MAN: Circle

11min (16+)
Plot: Trapped in a vast maze and pursued by ghosts, a mysterious entity summons a warrior to help it escape.
Review: I get it. Nice try. I didn’t think it worked very well. The story just didn’t… Launch.
Grade: 2-stars

This is a great app. I wish more people would support it

This app provides info about movies, reviews, ratings from people who have seen it before and after viewing. It has links to info about the movies. It let’s you know when there will be a lull in the action and how long it will last. If you want to know what happens during that time, you can check the brief synopsis (you have to click a link, so no accidental spoilers). It has a timer you can set (silent) to alert you to a break. It also tells you whether there is anything extra during or after the credits. It’s really a wonderful app. I’ve subscribed for a couple of years to support the developers, but I noticed some of the links to provide feedback didn’t seem to work today. They also made it free, with voluntary donations to see the pee-times. If you haven’t tried it, I encourage you to do so, and subscribe if you like it. I really hope the app is supported so it can continue to be maintained!

Developers note: RunPee doesn’t make much money but it supports itself nicely. Donations are appreciated, but not required. We’ll add as many movies to the database as we can until there are no more movie theaters.

S1 E7 – Crossfire: Good Conflict

19min (16+)
Plot: As a looming storm approaches, two rival mercenary groups collide. Driven by their vision of the greater good, the sides face off, their lives hanging in the balance.
Review: One of my favorite episodes so far. The concept could be expanded into a movie.
Grade: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 1/2

S1 E8 – Armored Core: Asset Management

14min (16+)
Plot: In a frostbitten frontier world, a legendary mech pilot learns his latest mission might hold the key to the demons that have haunted him for decades.
Review: What was this about? I really don’t get the plot at all. But, excellent visuals, especially the first few minutes.
Grade: ⭐

S1 E9 – The Outer Worlds: The Company We Keep

19min (16+)
Plot: An orphan from a galactic backwater crosses the cosmos to take a job at a ruthless mega-corporation in the hopes of reuniting with the girl he loves.
Review: This one looks more lighthearted but might be the most emotionally brutal of any. A truly likable protagonist caught in a dilemma.
Grade: ⭐⭐⭐1/2

S1 E10 – Mega Man: Start

8min (13+)
Plot: As the corrupted creations of genius inventor Dr. Light rampage through Mega City, the humblest of his inventions dreams of fighting for everlasting peace.
Review: It might have been good if it went on for about 10 more minutes. It’s short and ends just when it seems to be getting interesting.
Grade: ⭐⭐1/2

S1 E11 – Exodus: Odyssey

15min (13+)
Plot: A mechanic traverses the galactic frontier, racing against time in search of his runaway daughter.
Review: I’m not an expert on relativistic time dilation, but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t work that way. The father was chasing after the daughter, so time dilation should have been roughly equal for them if they were traveling at roughly the same speeds to the same places, just at different times. But, aside from the relativistic liberties they took in the story, it’s a decent tale of a father’s love.
Grade: ⭐⭐⭐ 1/2

S1 E12 – Spelunky: Tally

8min (13+)
Plot: A pair of explorers ponder their purpose in a subterranean world where everything wants to kill them. Repeatedly.
Review: I’m not sure they story gets across the point that it’s trying to get across, or maybe I just didn’t get it.
Grade: ⭐⭐⭐

S1 E13 – Concord: Tale of the Implacable

18min (13+)
Plot: Captain Cassidy’s crew of Freegunners is about to pull off the biggest heist of their lives – now there’s only a deadly armada and a cosmos-sundering space storm between them and freedom.
Review: This is basically the plot of Serenity, the Firefly movie. As a heist story, it is a little thin because there’s hardly any character development.
Grade: ⭐⭐⭐

S1 E14 – Honor of Kings: The Way of All Things

18min (13+)
Plot: An orphaned prodigy challenges the all-knowing artificial intelligence that rules his city.
Review: Wow, this is a gym. This is a watch twice episode. Stunning visuals and deeply profound.
Grade: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

S1 E15 – Playtime: Fulfillment

12min (13+)
Plot: Courier O is stuck in the endless drudgery of a point-chasing grind, but when a mysterious figure entrusts her with a strange package, O discovers that powerful people are determined to get their hands on it.
Review: It was interesting, but I don’t really get what the story is about.
Grade: ⭐⭐⭐
