A24 did it again. They left me scratching my head and asking, “What did I just see?” I have a long-running love/hate relationship with their movies. I’ve learned that I need to keep an open mind and watch them spin their tale to the very end. I will admit that I gave them reviews that were so bad, they contacted me. It was a heated discussion, and my only hope is they see this review. This is my apology; Priscilla was not at all what I expected. I figured they were going to turn her into a man with horns that would impel the famous King of Rock and Roll. Something weird was going to happen, I just knew it. Well, they proved me wrong again.
There were no men giving birth or lambs that stole your babies. It was just a really sad tale of love in the spotlight and how many different ways that can and will go wrong. I can understand why Elvis’s business didn’t endorse the movie. It didn’t paint him in the best of lights. I’ve loved Elvis for 50 years. I still love Elvis, but now I’m wondering who he was. Not a great husband; that’s what message I got from this film. I’m definitely about to go down a rabbit hole with some deep investigations into finding out how things really were.

I just found out that many of the financial contributions were pulled from the film. This might explain one of my puzzles. The whole movie felt like when you start your car, forget that your emergency brake is engaged, and drive away. Your car goes slower; it’s a bit sluggish. I was waiting for them to take the brakes off and go with it. It never did. It stayed slow. Lots of things were glossed over that should have been touched upon. So then I discovered that Coppola had to cut a week’s worth of scenes because of budget cuts. I bet those were the scenes I feel that it’s missing.
Overall, I enjoyed it. More so than other A24 Productions. It was far from perfect but just good enough to make me want to know more.

Love love love this app. And, after receiving an email from Dan (the creator) that read as though it was a one-on-one communication sent only to me, I felt compelled to leave a long-overdue review. My son and I are absolutely addicted to this app…especially since I discovered it at the onset of the Marvel craze. Now we use it to confirm if there is a scene following the credits. Often times, we are the ONLY ones there watching the bonus scene…and it cracks us up. LOL! Thanks, RunPee!
