Indiana Jones returns for his fifth adventure…Indiana Jones and The Dial Of Destiny. The fact that Harrison Ford is now eighty years old seems not to be much of a problem. Less of a problem than trying to introduce an Indiana Jones Jr. Jr. in the last film. Which was a mere fourteen years ago when he was a sprightly sixty six. I’m sixty five and can’t wait until next year when I can start running around and jumping up and down again!
What is more worrying, for me at least, is the rumours surrounding the titular Dial Of Destiny, what it does, and how that affects the future of the franchise. Indeed, whether or not there will be a future; first reports have been less than promising. The dial is, apparently, a time machine…don’t go treading on any butterflies!

Who is Indiana Jones?
Dr. Henry Walton “Indiana” Jones, Jr is a professor of archaeology with a very hands on approach to his research. Over the years that has lead to conflicts with Nazis, a Thuggee cult, and Soviet era Russians. His branch of archaeology is of a similar excitement level as Dr Alan Grant’s branch of palaeontology.
Behind The Camera
This is the first Indiana Jones outing not to have input from either Steven Spielberg or George Lucas. James Mangold directed and he has co-written with Jez and John-Henry Butterworth; recreating the team from Ford v Ferrari.
Release Date(s)
There have been delays, both production and pandemic related. At present there is a 30th June 2023 release date so…fingers crossed!
First Look Trailer
Cast
Obviously Harrison Ford is back. John Rhys-Davies is in the trailer and I’ve heard rumours of a Karen Allen cameo. Among the newcomers are Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Toby Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, and Antonio Banderas.
Characters, So Far, In Indiana Jones
Harrison is playing Indy, Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Helena Brody (Marcus Brody’s granddaughter), Toby Jones as Basil, Mads Mikkelsen as Jürgen Voller (essentially a younger version of Toht from Raiders), and Antonio Banderas as an old friend of Indy’s who might sacrifice himself to save Indy or could double cross him. I have heard that both Salah (John Rhys-Davies) and Marion (Karen Allen) have cameos.

about the RunPee app.

RunPee is an excellent app that has all the info you need when going to the movies. Whenever I go to a movie, I open up the app and know when the best time to dip to the bathroom is. They have pee times for movies just a few hours after their release and it shows the dedication the team has for the service. Definitely recommend for any movie-goer.

Indiana Jones’ Backstory
These are usually standalone stories so you can, usually, go in cold. Do yourself a favour though…watch Raiders Of The Lost Ark!
Sequels?
To be honest, I was amazed that they made a fourth one! I’m not betting against seeing Indiana Jones 13, but I should imagine this could be the last outing for Indy. Hopefully not in a James Bond/No Time To Die way though. Apparently, five episodes were planned back in the 1980’s so this could be the last one.
I have heard rumours that the whip and fedora will be inherited but by Helena!
