The Milagro Beanfield War

Happy Cinco de Mayo! If you celebrate this Mexican holiday or just want to find a good Latinx film to enjoy tonight, The Milago Beanfield War will delight and intrigue.  Even though it’s from the 80s, the film still resonates with important racial themes, and a strong message about the importance of family and community. There’s a little bit of…well, magic thrown in for fun. It’s a good film to talk about after. RunPee Recommended!

seperation-trailer_square NEW Movie – Separation
Separation was a big flop. I really tried to like this movie, but couldn’t find one single thing to like about it. Sometimes a horror movie misses the boat entirely. Oh well.

Review & Analysis: Using Greenland as a model for how to make a good disaster movie
A disaster movie that was, surprisingly, not a disaster. The creators of Greenland avoid the temptation to turn every possible scene into a mini-disaster, which elevates the drama and believability of the movie as a whole.

Or pick a completely family-friendly film like Coco, as we’ve linked in the post below.

coco_square Cinco de Mayo Family Friendly Movie – Coco

This is a movie that anyone who values their family should see. If you’re having a rough go of it with your family, go watch Coco. If you’re as close to them as possible, go watch Coco. I assure you, you will not leave disappointed. A top choice from Pixar/Disney with glorious Day of the Dead imagery to enchant you.

empire-strikes-back_square Classic Movie Review – The Empire Strikes Back

Happy Star Wars Day! Granted, that was technically yesterday — May the Fourth (get it, May the Force…) — but we also have Revenge of the Sixth coming up tomorrow. So get your Star Wars on with Empire: the top, numero uno, absolutely uncontested best movie in a galaxy far away. And always remember: the proper response to “I love you,” is “I know.”

If you still want to get in on Star Wars Day fun, warm up those lightsabers and toast with blue milk.
