Is Number Five (The Search for God) as bad as I remembered? The short answer is…some of it. Upon close rewatching, it’s clear that 3/4 of The Final Frontier is pretty good — fun and sentimental, with good scenes of the Big Three: Kirk, Spock & McCoy. Then it crashes completely off the rails in Act 4. Here’s a Trek fan’s fresh analysis on the “worst” Star Trek film, one who attended the 1989 opening night in the theater and still has the promo communicator pin to prove it.
