NEW Wide Release Movie Review — Freaky

So what they did in Freaky was take a horror theme and add a ton of comedy into it. Vince Vaughn nailed it. He was awesome to watch as a girl: the fun they had with the body switching was hilarious.

Want to de-stress during these crazy times? Support your local movie theater this week, and go have some Freaky fun!

Current & Coming Creative Blumhouse Horror Movies Current & Coming Creative Blumhouse Horror Movies

With Freaky released in all open theaters to great acclaim (our Horror Expert RunPee Sis gave it a rare A+ — see review link above), this is a good time to look at movies past, present, and in production from this prolific, popular, and downright trippy movie house.

Blumhouse is known for producing creative, low-budget horror films (Paranormal Activity, The Purge, Happy Death Day, Get Out, and most recently The Invisible Man). So, whenever they come out with a new title, it’s worth taking note. While Blumhouse certainly produces things other than horror flicks (Whiplash, BlacKKKlansman, and The Normal Heart — all worth your time), for the purposes of this article, we’re just going to focus on the scary stuff. Here’s *everything* you can look forward to soon.

Movie Short Review: Dear Guest Movie Short Review: Dear Guest

How can an 11 minute film can be so good? It takes longer to brew coffee than watch this gem of a short. We encourage you to give it a quick watch, in the hopes the director will turn this superb start into a full length creepster piece about…well…staying at an AirBnB. 😉

Indie Short Movie Review – Wives Of The Skies Indie Short Movie Review – Wives Of The Skies

Since we just reviewed an 11 minute short above, we thought we’d cover another hidden jewel of a short again. “Wives” clocks in at 20 minutes (twice as long as Dear Guest, above), but has a totally different ambience. It’s set in a nostalgic 60’s era of sexy stewardesses, framed by a mockumentary conceit.

It’s wacky, it’s sexist (on purpose), it’s even comedically seedy — and has fun little grace notes that are extremely entertaining to look for.

If you watch Wives as a double feature with Dear Guest, you’ll have some excellent entertainment that takes only a half hour out of your day. Off you go!

Indie Movie Review – The Tent (no spoilers) Indie Movie Review – The Tent (no spoilers)

This full length limited release film is not what you expect. You can watch the trailer all night — and actually, most of the movie — and it’s STILL not Birdbox or A Quiet Place. But it’s almost as enjoyable, making creepy use of an inexpensive setting entirely in the woods, and two intense, low-key, and believable performances.

See if you can figure out the secret of what’s stalking the eponymous tent. #ThinkOutsideTheTent
