Movie Review – Bloodshot

bloodshot Nothing to see here. Move along.

That pretty much sums up Bloodshot. There’s no point it seeing it unless you need your Vin Diesel fix, and you’re depressed that F9 has been pushed back to April 2021 due to CoVid19.

Instead of braving the virus just to see this movie, then let me suggest binge watching the Riddick movies. We did it recently and were reminded just how rocking good they are. That last Riddick movie is highly rewatchable.

What’s wrong with Bloodshot

The fundamental flaw is that Ray (Bloodshot) is like a terminator. It’s cool to see him walk into a shower of bullets. But after he does it the first time you realize there’s no drama. Of course, given the genre, you know Ray will ultimately prevail — but let’s have at least a little uncertainty.

For instance, if he recognizes that he’s vulnerable and if he dies, then his wife will die as well…then it adds a little drama to the character. But nothing like that happens. It’s like watching someone play a video game in god mode.

Pass.

About The Peetimes:

All 3 Peetimes are pretty good.

The 2nd Peetime is the best because most of it is going over things you’ve already seen.

RunPee is one of my favourite apps. No more googling a film before you see it and risking spoilers, this app has everything you need to know, not just the best time to go to the toilet. Dan, the developer, also offers an amazing customer service experience. I recently switched phones, and Dan was very generous in sorting things out with me as I moved over to my current system. If you’re an avid film watcher, this is the app for you!

You’ve probably noticed by now that I tend to be a glass half full type of guy when it comes to films. Someone will say that a film is irredeemably woeful and has absolutely nothing going for it and then I pop up and say “what about this feature” or “but isn’t that performance great” like some irritating little swot.

However this time I have to totally agree with Dan… this is a very poor effort all round. OK, some of the effects are well done but that is where the good stuff ends. Vin Diesel seems to be a student of the Steven Seagal Drama Academy in this movie. Even Guy Pearce, who is usually a good watch, is wasted here; Michael Sheen dropped out from from this role due to scheduling conflicts… either that or he read the script before he signed the contract.

The story seems to follow a squiggle rather than an arc. One minute he’s indestructible and the next he has to stop the bad guy before he pressing a button. The only thing it has going for it is that it can blame COVID-19 for it’s poor box office performance.

Well done Bloodshot. You turned me from a “glass half full” guy to a “this glass is half empty, cracked, smeared with lipstick, and appears to have a pubic hair in it” guy.

  2. LOL. Nice comment. 🙂

I’m picturing you like Rocket in the first Guardians of the Galaxy, “See what you did. You’re making me kick grass.”

Keep calm, and wash your hands!
