Tips for Seeing Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge from Disneyland

Scheduled to open in 2019, Disney will open Galaxy’s Edge, an ENTIRE LAND devoted to Star Wars. You can’t see much of it right now, and the things you can see are a  little hard to parse. Basically, you’re seeing the background spires of a alien city, on an strange new world.

Galaxy’s Edge seems to be a response to the runaway success of Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter – where they drop you into the entire town of Hogsmead (at the California park) – and let you run “hog”-wild pretending to be a Hogwart’s student on a rare weekend out.

Galaxy’s Edge should be just as exciting, especially if your tastes lean more to sci-fi than fantasy.

[pullquote]Here’s some fun tips if you visit Disneyland in 2018. You can spy the  fantastical construction for Galaxy’s Edge in several locations that don’t require waiting in lines.[/pullquote]

1. Climb up into Tarzan’s Treehouse in Adventureland. The high viewpoints have great views, and you’ll have the treehouse almost entirely to yourself.

2. Get on the Disneyland Railroad at New Orleans Square. You will need to turn around to face the opposite way, but as you pass through Critter Country, you go right under some of the spires and peaks of the Galaxy’s Edge setting.

3. Go into the Launch Bay in Tomorrowland and you’ll have gave a nice cool, mostly dim place to view star wars props, models, uniforms and then the large and detailed Galaxy’s Edge diorama/backdrop. (See photos.)

4. Another hidden find: If you try to circumnavigate the lake in New Orleans Square (in the direction of Critter Country, going left, past the Haunted Mansion), you’ll hit a wall. Literally, the path ends in a big flat wall — decorated only with a poster of how Galaxy’s Edge will appear, and no signage. It’s a quiet statement of excitement from the Imagineers.  I can’t wait.

Diane Keaton Kisses Kimmel, Talks Sex

Diane Keaton has been busy talking up her new comedy/drama Book Club, a film about four older but formidable women who want to take back their zest and their sex lives, starting with a group reading of the infamous soft-bondage novel 50 Shades of Grey.

The actresses on tap are all top caliber: besides Keaton, the film stars Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen. It’s kinda unfair – all these ladies look great, for any age. But this is still Hollywood, and even older actresses have to maintain their image.

Here are some cute Keaton videos from her recent interview on Jimmy Kimmel, followed by some neat moments from The Ellen Show, where Keaton reveals more funny and intimate things. She’s totally on a roll. I’m excited for this movie! [pullquote]Why can’t we have older women role models to help guide us into aging vibrantly? Hell to aging “gracefully”…let’s rock![/pullquote]

It seems Kimmel’s got a bit of a crush going:

And here’s Keaton on Ellen’s show, doing her thing:

Book Club isn’t getting rave reviews, but I’l guessing the target audience is…older women. And super fans of 50 Shades of Grey. Or why not older couples — to laugh together and take notes for new sexy ideas… 😉

Ryan Reynolds Explains the Deadpool Leak

It seems that Ryan Reynolds IS Deadpool on and off the set.

From the Graham Norton Show ( I do like him, with his Brit Wit):

For good measure, another interview, explaining why EVERYONE loves Reynolds:

Are you excited yet for Deadpool 2? This will probably be sold out from opening, through the weekend, so get your tickets early, or else chill out and have a Deadpool 1 rewatch party.

I’m set with a Deadpool shirt, some Deadpool buttons, and a big shyte-eating grin, ready to go.

There’s tons of Deadpool merch. There’s even a Star Wars/Deadpool mashup in the list – hey, crossovers! I’m personally wearing the black shirt with the ‘eyes’ logo. Anyway, have fun looking:

Adrift Movie Trailers

I’m interested to see this take on yet another survival story – I always enjoy those. This time, the setting is somewhere at sea, with the added complication of the only experienced sailor incapacitated, and possibly dying.  The word is that this movie is based on a true story – I would guess loosely based, for dramatic reasons, or to compress a long accounting of perhaps endless days drifting lost the ocean. [pullquote position=”left”]I would guess already that any ‘time passing’ at sea montages will make great Peetimes[/pullquote]. We’re never actually sure until we see the movie and make our notes, so you’ll want to load up the RunPee app and keep it ready for when you see Adrift.

An early Adrift Trailer:

The final Adrift Trailer:

We think it looks good from this side of things. Shailene Woodley is turning into a versatile actress. I hope her performance is up to this one…it looks like she will have to carry the entire film, with probably very little dialog. I know someone experienced like Emily Blunt could do it (Blunt can do anything), but Woodley is still comparatively untested.

Melissa McCarthy on College Days, Life of the Party

Entertainment News – [pullquote]Melissa McCarthy’s new comedy Life of the Party is banking heavily on nostalgia for bygone college days.[/pullquote] I know the feeling. I’m 50 myself, and miss the my old school days, my long-lost chums, and the sense of being in a contained world where my only worries concern studying, learning, and deciding if I should/shouldn’t attend the next big kegger.

Well, then.  What is the actual audience for Life of The Party? Is it young adults who like fun fluff comedies, and are ready to cringe at the idea of a parent bursting onto their scene? Or people like me, who miss the Old Days? Or, probably, a lot of the audience will be just Melissa McCarthy fans.

The flick is up against Marvel’s juggernaut Avengers: Infinity War, which is breaking records, driving people to the theaters in droves (I myself saw Infinity War five times – yep).  Any other movie on the roster isn’t going to make a splash, so very few films are actually coming out this week. We’re only seeing two, and that is astounding. Normally we’ve got four or five movies to get Peetimes for.

Here’s what McCarthy says about her role in Life of the Party:

What McCarthy has to say in a Mom’s Advice sort of group:

Seriously, you go girl! And maybe I’ll make the priority to go back to school, too. Life’s too short to be a grown-up forever.

A Quiet Place 2 Announced

Shhhhhhhh. No, really, don’t make a sound. Not even when we announce that A Quiet Place has a sequel scheduled already! (Confirmed by Paramount.)

A Quiet Place offers an interesting concept for movie-going – people constantly report that their theaters were dead silent. Through the whole movie. [pullquote]Apparently this is a great cinematic experience and not to be missed. I’d call this film a sleeper hit.[/pullquote]

Right on the heels of the surprise rise of A Quiet Place, Den Of Geek reports A Quiet Place 2 is in the works already. They say the story could continue where it left off, or could be about another family entirely.  There are many options to explore in the Quiet-verse.

How do you live, when your life depends on total silence? Could you do it? Even clicking the keys on my laptop makes sound. I have a fan on as I work: Alexa belts out my morning playlist. The coffeepot gurgles, percolating, while the dog barks and whines, begging for bacon that pops and sizzles on the stove. I take all this for granted.

Our spoiler free review of A Quiet Place gives this film an A, and reports the tone is more like a cross between Alien and Signs (both being top notch films). RunPee Creator Dan says, “[pullquote position=”right”]Every scene felt like it was hand crafted, over and over, until it was perfected. There isn’t a wasted second in a single scene.[/pullquote]”. My spoiler-full review awards A Quiet Place a rare A+ ( I was slightly more impressed).

With the care, commitment, and attention to detail by the director, cast, cast and crew, we can hope any sequels or prequels will add to the richness of this dystopia, and not just toss out a trashy cash cow.

Want more details on the sequel? CinemaBlend provides some details with major spoilers in the article, while Emily Blunt and John Krasinski discuss what they know and how they feel in this clip:

How to Dress Like You’re From Wakanda in Black Panther

fashion from wakanda and black panther
Walk like a Wakandan.

Black Panther style is making waves on and off the runway, according to sources around the world. Literally. In fact, if you Google “black panther fashion clothes” it turns up 4,780,000 results. There’s a whole lot of fashion photos, style ideas, fashion tips and general garment excitment, all based on the fictional Wakanda, a high-tech and super-powered country hidden the mountains and fields of Africa.

[pullquote]When I saw Marvel’s Black Panther on opening night – to a sold out audience – I noticed how many theater-goers were dressed in fantastical and traditional  African garb.[/pullquote] I even noted it in my Black Panther review. These looks are clearly being celebrated in a new, more high-profile way than ever before. Marketplace’s article even mentions how clothing stores had to jump to respond to people wanting to get their outfits ready to see Black Panther; people were independently planning around a sort of celebration of the first major Marvel superhero based in Africa.

It seems like futuristic African styles are on the rise. In a big way. I know I’d wear a lot of them; these are clothes drenched in color, texture, drape, and detail. These are just beautiful garments — some reaching the level of art. Even sources like Vanity Fair and the runways of New York Fashion Week are taking note.

Thor Ragnarok – Demented & Fun Deleted Scenes

The Blu-Ray for Thor: Ragnarok has some immensely entertaining deleted scenes. Some are creepy fun (like the Grandmaster’s proclivities and polysexual tastes) and others are just a joy to watch and re-watch (Bruce Banner sucking down..um…noodles?)

[pullquote position=”right”]You should probably view these in the order presented here, which weaves around and kind of tells a story.[/pullquote]

First things first: If you haven’t seen last year’s one-offs with Thor and his roommate Darryl, you’ll have a laugh with these quasi-canon shorts that explain why Thor wasn’t seen in Captain America: Civil War, in a slyly pedestrian aside. This video contains Parts One and Two, so let it play out to see both:

Thor Ragnarok Mixed Deleted Scenes (Includes an inexplicable cameo from certain blue fellow, last seen in a previous, non-Thor Marvel film):

Thor and Bruce, stuck on Sakaar (Deleted Scene):

Thor and Bruce on the Grandmaster’s Ship (Deleted Tentacle Party Scene and…those Noodles):

The Grandmaster Moves in with Darryl, Thor’s old roommate (One-Off, Extended Edition):

Finally, here are 17 minutes of Thor’s deleted and behind-the-scenes bonus footage, for your consideration:

I can’t stop rewatching these addictive, wackadoodle videos. You’re welcome…
