Movie Review – Peace River

Peace River caught me off guard. I knew nothing about the movie going in. Lucky for me, prior to the showing there were interviews with the writer/actor, Benjamin M. Jones. He truly wrote this from his heart. I felt it throughout the entire film. The story was endearing, heartbreaking, and full of real-life situations and problems.

This is a very religious movie. I myself am not religious so that part of the story did not appeal to me. However, if you are a religious person, this one’s for you. His message is clear.

The cast is made up of people involved in his vision. I don’t believe they are professional actors. That being said, the acting wasn’t great. The filming wasn’t great but again, the story was there.

Grade: C+

About The Peetimes: Heads up: The showing I went to surprised me. Normally they show about 15 minutes of trailers. This movie had none; it started right away. I’m not sure if this is a theater glitch or is specific to this movie. Be on time — you don’t have the extra 15-minute leeway we’re all guilty of using sometimes.

Plot
Two young kids growing up in the rodeo cowboy life form a foundation with each other and family. He becomes a Champion Rodeo cowboy and special forces soldier but is crushed by war and personal loss. She must watch him struggle. He must draw on faith and the “cowboy way” to reclaim his will to live and the love of his life.
