The first movie (The Meg) wasn’t great, but it was surprisingly enjoyable. My wife wanted to watch Meg 2 with me, so I rewatched The Meg with her the night before the sequel’s release. The Meg doesn’t try to be something it’s not. They just have fun with the concept and go over the top enough to make it fun.
This movie, not so much.

The plot and most of the characters are based on bad clichés. To give it a little credit, there are a few cool scenes that are fresh and unintentionally poignant after the recent Titanic sub-disaster.
The end of the movie action is almost cartoonish in it’s action and character stupidity. It’s like the writers had ideas for action scenes and made them happen no matter how unlikely it is that a real person would behave as they wrote. And some of the action scenes were so over the top as to be comical. I can only imagine that they intended it that way, but in m y opinion it just turned into a farce.
Obviously, this isn’t a movie that warrants a lot of deep thought. I think they could have made a much better movie if they didn’t try to make Jason Statham the hero at every opportunity.

Movie Watching Must Have!!
I go feral for this app. I love it so much and I wish everyone knew about it and used it. It is incredibly useful and I would be devastated if this app ever disappeared. Things I love: 1) the pee times! It’s so handy to know the best time to go and then read the synopsis of what’s happening while I’m gone. I never have to worry about missing the good bits! 2) knowing if there is a post-credits scene or not. This might be my fav feature because I would have missed out on some pretty critical scenes if it weren’t for RunPee. 3) the movie review and viewer rankings. This info has made me watch some movies that I normally wouldn’t and it’s nice seeing things outside of my usual scope. 4) that it’s a small family run business. I love shopping small and it really does feel like I’m part of the RunPee family! If you reach out to them, Dan will personally respond to you and he is so warm and helpful. About The Peetimes: I have three Peetimes. They’re all pretty good and avoid any of the good action scenes. I would recommend the 2nd Peetime as the best, but there’s not a huge difference in any of the others.
There are no extra scenes during, or after, the end credits of Meg 2: The Trench.
