I went and saw Licorice Pizza and was kind of excited to see what the world looked like in 1973, the year I was born. I walked out realizing that I’m really happy that we are born without the ability to talk, to walk or to rationalize things. I’m so happy that the 70’s were over by the time I could understand the world a little better. Dear Lord, this movie was bad.

I’m baffled that this movie has an 8.2/10 rating on IMDB. I’ve read about twenty reviews and now here I sit in complete confusion. I’m going to stand proud and declare that this movie was by far the worst of 2021.

Not one single character appealed to me. From the pimply face of an annoying 15-year-old to a 25-year-old female that makes women look bad. (We’re not all wishy-washy like this poor excuse of an independent woman.) Technically she wasn’t independent, since she still lived at home and was messing with a 15-year-old. Who does that? Perhaps Mary Kay Letourneau.

Even with all the cameo roles, the movie couldn’t be saved. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why Bradley Cooper, Sean Penn, and John C. Reilly took the time to appear in this atrocious attempt at art.

Insert barfy face here.

Save your money, time, and patience. I wouldn’t recommend this movie to anyone.

Grade: WTF

About The Peetimes: This is a pretty long movie. I’ve got 3 solid choices for you to use.

There are no extra scenes during, or after, the end credits of Licorice Pizza. (What we mean by Anything Extra.)

Plot
LICORICE PIZZA is the story of Alana Kane and Gary Valentine growing up, running around and falling in love in the San Fernando Valley, 1973. Written and Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the film tracks the treacherous navigation of first love.

My bladder thanks you so much!! App works great for telling u when and for how long you have a pee break! I didn’t use the timer function so the dialog in the movie was a great clue as to when to go. I also liked the info about each movie to know whether there was any extra scenes during or after the credits. Nothing worse than waiting for all the credits and then no extra scene.

  1. Your review gave me a chuckle. Thanks for seeing this so we don’t have to!

  2. Oh my! I’m about to watch it now along with the other Best Picture nominees…. I’ll circle back if I agree with your WTF grade. LOL!

  3. Your review is on point!!! Too much going on. I assume Licorice Pizza is the title because licorice and pizza don’t go together and neither does any of the many plots in the movie. Ugghhh!
