Movie Review – It Ends with Us

It-Ends-with-Us_hero

It Ends With Us was phenomenal. Blake Lively gave this character her all, you felt every little emotion she felt, her chemistry made the screen spark. I love her, I don’t think she’s ever done anything under exceptional. This role was no different, she owned it.

I did not know anything about it when I found out that I was doing this movie. I also did not know that it was a book. Coincidentally, before me and my granddaughter went to go see it, we did some shopping at the mall first. (where my theater is) We had walked past a bookstore and Savannah spotted the book. We were both surprised, who knew? We joked around about it and went to go see the movie. As the movie ended, my granddaughter looked at me and begged to go get the book, so we did and she’s happily reading it now. We also discovered that there is a follow-up book and will be going to pick that up this weekend. (thanks Rebecca)

The story was so heartfelt and powerful. I hope the movie does well at the box office, I was a bit surprised when I walked into my theater, it was packed. Since I moved to Tennessee, I have yet to see more than ten people at the early show. I live in a small town, but the ladies were out yesterday. At the end of the movie it received massive applause. It tickles me when that happens.

I’m sure if you’ve read the book you plan on seeing it, I just want to let everyone else know, this is a must see movie. I’ll be reading the book this weekend and I’ll report back on how I felt they did then.

  1. I wish I had known it was about domestic violence. I would not have gone. It was sad but gave a hopeful outcome.

It was very sad, you’re absolutely right. That’s a tough issue for many people in the world.

What I loved about it was her strength. My hope is that this movie will encourage anyone in that position to find the strength she had.

I’m sorry that it was upsetting for you and made you sad. Movies can touch our emotions in wicked ways, that’s usually how I grade a movie. I ask myself, “How much did this movie make me feel?” This one was a definite high score on the sad factor.

    Thank you for your comment.

  3. Thank you for your commments. I have relied on RunPee for many years for great reviews and identification of types of movies. For example: I avoid Horror because it triggers me. This was listed as Drama/Romance. Both true, but neither RunPee, IMDB, or Rotten Tomatoes correctly identified this movie with a warning of Domestic Violence. Thank you for pointing out the strength of character of this story. I hope in the future a comment in the review will give a warning of violence.

  4. I’m in agreement with some other reviews. If I had known that domestic violence was the essence of this movie, I would not have seen it.

I donated $10 to your app that went through my bank on 1/29/2024 and it still shows I have not donated. I have complained about this before and was told it was seen and would be corrected, but it still shows I donated zero. If it’s not going to count why am I donating? I love this app and use it every time I am considering going to a movie. The extra scenes during or after the credits is what I count on most. I also trust your reviews more than others. Thanks for a wonderful much needed app, but please show when I donate to it.

    1. Hi Sylvia. First, thank you very much for donating. I really appreciate it. I don’t recall getting a donation via my bank and wouldn’t know how you could do that at any rate. I have PayPal and Venmo donation options available. But that reminds me that I should add Zelle as a donation option.

The RunPee app can only track donations that are made via in-app payments. Many people make donations via PayPal and Venmo, but those donations don’t show up in the app because there’s no way for PayPal to “talk to” the RunPee server. I would have to do that manually, but often, I don’t know the user’s ID, so there’s no way I could update the server even if I wanted to.

I think I’m just going to remove the “donation amount” altogether, since it only tracks the in-app donations.
