One of the better movies in the DC Universe (DCU). But we expected that from writer/director James Gunn. The movie has plenty of humor and charm mixed in with over the top, grotesque violence that will leave you going, “Ohhhhhhhhhhhh-no he didn’t.”

In a word, yes. In fact, there are two.

Having heard less than stellar reports of the 2016 Suicide Squad film, I had low expectations. Thus, my expectations were exceeded. Funny how that works. But the squad characters were so much fun to watch as they squabbled like siblings, and still leaked lethal competence from every pore.

I have to admit it, I was hoping Suicide Squad would be the Guardians of the Galaxy of the DC universe. It didn’t come close.

	NEW in theaters – Pig Pig isn’t for everyone. If you’re just wanting to sit back and be entertained with no real thoughts needed, don’t see Pig. It makes you think hardcore; you’ll be searching for the meaning just like the eponymous pig, searching out morels. Grade: B-
	Is Harley Quinn in Birds of Prey a Sequel, Soft Reboot, or a Standalone Movie? Everything you need to know to catch up to Harley Quinn’s adventures before seeing The Suicide Squad in theaters.
	Movie Review – Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn The entire script revolves around giving Margo Robbie ample opportunities to flash her psychotic smile and primal violence. And she does that exceedingly well. Grade: B
	Harley Quinn Adventures You May Have Missed I’ve loved the clown princess of crime ever since I first saw the episode “Mad Love” on Batman: The Animated Series. If you’re a Harley fan too, you may want to check out some of her other cinematic adventures. She’s a very busy woman.
	Guardians of the Galaxy Ex-Director James Gunn to Direct Suicide Squad 2 I was at the San Diego Comic Con when it was announced that the beloved Gunn was 86’ed from Guardians vol 3. It broke our geeky hearts. Now we know he’s got GotG v3 back in his court, PLUS he’s entrenched in DC! Sometimes life turns out better than expected.
	What DC Can Learn from Marvel Movies Not to wade too deep into the DC vs MCU debate, but it really seems like DC is increasingly desperate to catch up to Marvel’s incredible success making a cohesive shared universe. How, exactly, does Marvel get so much right?
