The Nun II gave me chills and so many thrills. Color me impressed, In my personal opinion it’s better than the first movie and I loved that one too. Part of what made this one better than the first is the characters have been introduced and now get to reprise their roles and the comfort they found in said characters shines brightly. Taissa Farmiga was simply splendid, she’s on par with her sister Vera in becoming one of the horror greats. Her acting is smooth and very graceful.
Before I get carried away with all the praise I have for the movie, I’ve got one problem with this sequel, I couldn’t see a lot of the scenes because they were so dark. I totally understand lighting has to fit the screen but I felt they went overboard on it. At one point I was starting to think they were having a problem with the film. It was so dark for so long that I actually thought it had stopped. Maybe I need my eyes checked but nonetheless, it’s dark.

Back to my praise now. Bonnie Aarons…wow…she is spooky. The Nun is perhaps one of the greatest boogeymans this generation has met. I’m not Catholic but I can promise you I’d recite the Hail Mary and work my Rosary like a good girl if she was standing there staring at me. Visually, The Nun is the scariest monster in my book, or the silver screen in this case.
I felt bad for everyone in my theater, they all got up and left when the credits rolled. Too bad for them, there was an extra scene. I’m still wondering why everyone got up, it was all over the internet that there would be an additional scene. There was and I was totally excited by it. If you are a fan of these movies, just wait…there’s more.
This is the kickoff of horror season and I feel like they started with a touchdown and a Hail Mary thrown in.
Grade: A-

My bladder thanks you so much!! App works great for telling u when and for how long you have a pee break! I didn’t use the timer function so the dialog in the movie was a great clue as to when to go. I also liked the info about each movie to know whether there was any extra scenes during or after the credits. Nothing worse than waiting for all the credits and then no extra scene.
