The Blind Side is without question the best role I’ve seen Sandra Bullock perform, and she was certainly up to the task. Most of the roles I have seen her in are of the quirky woman variety – Miss Congeniality, All About Steve, Speed, etc. – or the woman in love character: see every other movie she has made. She’s very good at both of these but it’s good to see her spread out into something a little different (note – I’ve not seen every single movie she’s been in).

I’ve heard some people saying that this is an Oscar nomination type of role. I hope so. She deserves to at least get on the ballot for this performance.

And she’s not the only one who deserves some Oscar love. Quinton Aaron nails his role. I’m not sure acting shy and quiet is the toughest role for an actor, but I never once thought that I was watching someone act.

I would also like to give some props to the writers and director.

I like the fact that they focus on letting us know that Michael isn’t exceptional in anything other than being a left tackle. The real Michael Oher made tremendous academic strides, but so could anyone else who is given the resources and motivation that Michael had.

We can’t be reminded often enough that the only difference between the richest people and the poorest is… money. In every other way we are equals, and given the right circumstances our lots could have been otherwise.

This is a great app. I wish more people would support it

This app provides info about movies, reviews, ratings from people who have seen it before and after viewing. It has links to info about the movies. It let’s you know when there will be a lull in the action and how long it will last. If you want to know what happens during that time, you can check the brief synopsis (you have to click a link, so no accidental spoilers). It has a timer you can set (silent) to alert you to a break. It also tells you whether there is anything extra during or after the credits. It’s really a wonderful app. I’ve subscribed for a couple of years to support the developers, but I noticed some of the links to provide feedback didn’t seem to work today. They also made it free, with voluntary donations to see the pee-times. If you haven’t tried it, I encourage you to do so, and subscribe if you like it. I really hope the app is supported so it can continue to be maintained!

Developers note: RunPee doesn’t make much money but it supports itself nicely. Donations are appreciated, but not required. We’ll add as many movies to the database as we can until there are no more movie theaters.

  1. Saw this on Thanksgiving Day. It was a very enjoyable movie especially since it was based on real people whom I saw on TV. Not many people, rich or poor, would take in such a misfit and continue nurturing him/her for years.

  2. I finally watched this and LOVED it. I was so happy this is based on a real guy, and was thrilled to see him succeed academically, athletically, and be a super nice fellow to boot who really didn’t want to hurt people. Liked his relationship with the entire family, especially the kid who became his ‘personal coach. It was nice to see a movie end up happy.

This will go in my rewatch rotation. Excellent film.

  3. I really need to watch this again. It is a feel-good movie.
