Movie Review – The 15:17 to Paris

15-17-to-parisIt’s not unusual for me to disagree with professional critics, but I was almost apoplectic to read the scathing reviews given to The 15:17 To Paris. The chief complaint seems to be the hour we sit through just to get to the action. So here’s my take on that; I liked being shown the lives they lead, leading up to the tragic event that made them heroes. And the tour we were taken on in Europe with the friends was sweet. I’ve been to most of the places they visited and didn’t mind going there again.

Remember the excellent performances Eastwood pulled out of first time actors Bee Vang and Ahney Her from the Hmog community in Grand Torino? So, it comes as no surprise that he did it again in this movie. Our heroes performed much better than the pros.

The movie moves along at a nice clip, and other than a few protracted conversations, I wasn’t bored.
