Movie Review – Terrifier 2

terrifier-2_headerTerrifier 2 has similarities to its predecessor Terrifier. Like any sequel, it ramps things up and explains a little more. Both movies are almost a love letter to horror fans that love practical effects. The good and the cheesy looking that can come along with that. Similar to how in a lot of the 1980s horror movies effects could convey a lot but you could almost laugh at them at the same moment.

So if you’re a fan of ’80s horror/slasher movies these are your kind of movies. Both movies are definitely not fast-paced or edited at a fast pace to help get you that adrenaline rush. Both movies are long and feel long. Not that you’re bored, they have things happening. I just felt they definitely could have picked up the pace a little bit and trimmed some stuff for runtime. So that covers the main similarities between both movies. Let’s get into more specifics of Terrifier 2.

We definitely get to see more of Art the Clown and get a chance to revel in his antics. We also get introduced to Sienna, her family, and friends so the audience is a little more invested in the characters coming up against Art. There is also a bit of world-building on top of what was presented in the first film—plus introducing us to Art’s new companion “little pale girl” that is all I will say about her. 🙂 They ramped things up, as expected. Overall, I still can see that Art the Clown is going to continue to be a newer horror killer icon. I enjoyed the practical effects but like the first Terrifier it felt a little bit long and slower pace than I would have liked.

Tell a friend to see it?
Yes. To the right kind of horror fan friend.

Would I rewatch it?
Yes but not a must-see again right away.

Would I want to own a copy?
No

Must-see in theaters?
This movie does not require the big screen or sound. The story could transfer to the small screen.

Do you need to see the original show to enjoy this one?
I think I would recommend watching the original first. To see if you enjoy this filmmaker’s style. That said I think they do cover enough of the basics if you were coming into it fresh to get up to speed. But I still would recommend watching the first one before this one

Grade: C+

About The Peetimes: I found 3 decent Peetimes. The first peetime is recommended only because it is longer.

Brilliant idea with great information

I’ve been using RunPee for a few years now and it’s basically a requirement of going to the movies for me. The best part of course are the “pee times” that give you cues, synopses and times for when you can pee without missing the most important parts of the movie. There is also information about the credits- length, extras and if there are any extra scenes at the wayyy end. Super helpful to just know that it is or isn’t worth staying. There is a timer function that will buzz your phone when it’s a good time to pee. I also appreciate that the app is very conscientious about it being an app you use in a theater- dark background, all silent alarms etc. I will always enjoy the experience of the theater even if I could watch things at home- but I’ve even used it at home to check for things like after credit scenes or other information too.

  1. I liked this one a heck of a lot more than I thought I would. Very cool asthetic, the lead actress was excellent, and of course insane death scenes. They really should have chopped 20 minutes off the end though.
