Movie Review – Scoob!

Read Time:1 Minute, 33 Second

scoobI grew up watching Scooby Doo as a kid, so I was looking forward to taking a trip down memory lane. But that trip didn’t start off good. The first half of this movie was hard to watch. Fortunately it got a little better toward the end.

I would give the first half of this movie a D-. It was that painful to watch. I’d give the second half a B-. So let’s split the difference and give this movie an overall C. Which is, give or take, about what I would have expected.

Movie Theme

The central message of the movie revolves around people growing into new roles, and the stress that can put on friendships. It’s a common problem at any age that friends want the best for each other, but at the same time it’s hard to deal with changes to a relationship.

The theme may be a little advanced for young children, who haven’t dealt with this issue yet. But one would hope that this movie can serve as a template for them in the future when they do experience something like this.

The Scoobyverse

It’s clear that WB is aiming to recreate the Scoobyverse. I’m not going to spoil it for you, but there’s a character cameo that really made me smile. When I first saw the character I thought, “No way… Is that?” And then sure enough, it was.

Then when you watch the credits, its clear that WB intends to use this movie to launch a whole slew of new movies. I just hope they’re a little better than this one.

Grade: C

Movie Watching Must Have!!

I go feral for this app. I love it so much and I wish everyone knew about it and used it. It is incredibly useful and I would be devastated if this app ever disappeared. Things I love: 1) the pee times! It’s so handy to know the best time to go and then read the synopsis of what’s happening while I’m gone. I never have to worry about missing the good bits! 2) knowing if there is a post-credits scene or not. This might be my fav feature because I would have missed out on some pretty critical scenes if it weren’t for RunPee. 3) the movie review and viewer rankings. This info has made me watch some movies that I normally wouldn’t and it’s nice seeing things outside of my usual scope. 4) that it’s a small family run business. I love shopping small and it really does feel like I’m part of the RunPee family! If you reach out to them, Dan will personally respond to you and he is so warm and helpful. GET THIS APP AND THEN SUBSCRIBE! It is absolutely worth it and you’ll be using it again and again!

  1. What? Captain Caveman? What are you thinking of?

I barely remember the shark character or the ape one.

I really thought this was going to be a great homage to my childhood show. But this was terrible. I would have given this an F. What seemed decent to you? And I have a LOT of understanding for homage animation. I’m shocked this got out of the D levels for you. Please let me know…

  2. Like I said, the last half of the movie was MUCH better than the first half.

  3. LOL, good deal. I turned it off before the halfway mark. Should I try again?

  4. I wouldn’t bother.

  5. I had the ideal accessory for this film… a six year old granddaughter who’s seen it before, loved it, and wanted to act out virtually every scene! Most entertaining.

And she really loved the first half. Maybe you’re a bit more sophisticated than the target audience.

The biggest flop for me was the British guy’s cameo… he can not act! Trying not to wander into spoiler territory.

  6. lol, that sounds like a great accessory. I’d like to think that I am a little more sophisticated that the target audience of this movie, but I think my wife might argue that point. 🙂

  7. I’m guessing that’s one of those “looks, says nothing, shakes head and sighs” moments. I get loads of those from my wife!
