Movie Review – Alice

The concept of this movie was great and it was a refreshing take on the usual movies about slavery that only seem to show horrible images of the treatment of enslaved people.

Alice transitions into an empowering story of an enslaved woman’s journey to freedom. While the concept was excellent, I think the story leaped too quickly in terms of Alice’s character progression.

About The Peetimes: This film told a beautiful story which is not often heard. Aside from the unrealistic timeline of events, I genuinely enjoyed it. I found it pretty easy to get 3 Peetimes throughout the movie. I recommend the 2nd Peetime because it is right before the movie transitions to Alice’s character progression.

There are no extra scenes during, or after, the end credits of Alice. (What we mean by Anything Extra.)

Plot
Alice (Keke Palmer) yearns for freedom as an enslaved person on a rural Georgia plantation under its brutal and disturbed owner Paul (Jonny Lee Miller). After a violent clash with Paul, she flees through the neighboring woods and stumbles onto the unfamiliar sight of a highway, soon discovering the year is actually 1973. Rescued on the roadside by a disillusioned political activist named Frank (Common), Alice quickly comprehends the lies that have kept her in bondage and the promise of Black liberation. Inspired by true events, Alice is a modern empowerment story tracing Alice’s journey through the post-Civil Rights Era American South.

I’ve loved this app for years and use it at the theater and home. Super easy to use and so helpful to know when it’s a good time to run for the restroom. I notify my kids when it’s close to time, so I don’t end up running them to the restroom multiple times. (Updated review from 4 to 5 . I’d had an issue with the app while at the theater and it was quickly resolved with FANTASTIC customer service. Thanks, RunPee!)
