2023 was an interesting year for the film industry with many ups and downs. The 2023 Writers Guild of America strikes had a significant impact on the television and film industry, with production of many long-time shows and new movies being postponed or even cancelled. While many hit sequels including Avatar 3, The Batman: Part III, Avengers 5, and Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim were supposed to be released that year, all of these hit titles have been postponed.
However, the good news is that with the writers strikes mainly resolved, many of these hit movies production schedules are back on track, with many release dates in 2024. If you’re struggling to contain your excitement for some of these titles, perhaps head over to the online world to try a few of the latest games like movie themed slots, slingo bingo or a good old game of online poker if that’s more your style.

Mean Girls
If you grew up in the 2000’s then chances are that Mean Girls was a big part of your youth. The classic movie stars Lindsey Lohan as Cady Heron, an new girl in an American high school who’s just trying to fit in, find her group of people, and survive. Along the way, she battles between friendships with a group of ‘It girls’ and friends who may not be the coolest but truly have her back.
Mean Girls 2024 is a film version of the stage musical, while still being based on the original 2004 movie. While this version is a reimagining of the original, it still very much carries the same vibes as the original and will have fans queuing at every movie theatre to get a much anticipated ticket.
Mean Girls is now available in movie theatres, with a release date of January 12 in the US and January 19 in the UK.
What people are saying
about the RunPee app.
Single best investment
By and far best investment Ive made. I used to drive my husband nuts because Id be a fidgeting mess the last half hour of the movie trying not to miss important parts. Now I just turn this app on and *bam* I can actually focus on the movie the whole time. Even puts alerts to my watch so even better. Also I can guarentee all the 5 reviews arent fake as one person accused – its just that so many of us movie-goers had the same problem and this fixed it. Yes, it is paid but jeeze its expensive to keep watching movies and updating an app for every movie. And if you read more about the creator he mentions he has several people contributing – so yeah its paid but omg worth every cent. 10/10
Developers note: the RunPee app is now, and always will be, 100% free. Donations are optional.

Dune (Part 2)
Dune was released in 2021 and went down as a hit. Starring no other than Zendaya, Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson and Oscar Isaac, Dune is an epic science fiction film directed by Denis Villeneuve.
Dune 2 was anticipated to be released in 2023, however due to writers strikes, the production of the film was delayed and release pushed back until 2024. The second movie will continue to tell the tale of the original novel, however there are already plans in place to keep extending the storyline further, much to fans’ delight.
GhostBusters Frozen Empire
For those who were original ghostbusters fans, the release of the new ghostbusters movie in 2021 received mixed reviews. While the original cast were maintained, we guess the nostalgia of the original ghostbusters just couldn’t quite be captured again. That being said, the second Ghostbusters movie is still highly anticipated this year.
The story goes back to New York, where the Spengler family leave Oklahoma to join and help the original ghostbusters in the city. An artefact then unleashes an evil spirit that could threaten to take down Earth by creating another ice age, unless the Ghostbusters can stop it.
Inside Out 2
There’s nothing like a great Pixar movie to take you back to your childhood and entertain the whole family, or even just yourself without the kids too. 2015’s Inside Out was a huge hit, and Inside Out 2 will be just as popular.
Inside Out 2 revisits Joy who is now a teenager who is facing some difficult emotions. We see the addition of a new emotion, anxiety, as well as another interestingly unidentified emotion that sums up the troubles of teenage life well. Destined to tug at the heart strings again, Inside Out 2 is due to be released in early June 2024.
A Quiet Place
If you weren’t quite terrified enough by the original film, the second movie will be right up your street. The original film saw a family trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world that has become inhabited by blind but deadly creatures that have powerful hearing.
The prequel will explore how A Quiet Place all began, with little details being released yet. However, we do know that the original cast will be involved.
Overall there are a huge variety of great movies set to come out in 2024. While 2023 was a year of disappointment in the film and tv world with many shows and films being either cancelled or severely delayed, 2024 is looking like a great year for the industry’s comeback.
