Movie Review – RENAISSANCE: A FILm by BEYONCÉ

Let me first confess that I am part of the BeyHive! I’ve been a fan since Beyonce’ started in 1997. My daughter’s first name is Destiny. Furthermore, as fate would continue, my wedding photo with Destiny’s dad was included in Jet Magazine with the cover pic of Destiny’s Child. I’m just saying, LOL, I’m a FAN!

As we can see, Beyonce’ and Taylor Swift have trailblazed a new path for artists by producing concert films for their fans for one major reason – another way to experience their favorite artist. I attended Beyonce’s concert in Las Vegas, but providing an abbreviated concert experience at the movie theatre, at a much lower price, is certainly genius.

This movie adaptation from the Renaissance Concert Tour was just as amazing, exciting, and thrilling as actually seeing the concert in person. The movie playlist included approximately 35 songs, which was almost the number of songs of the concert tour. Beyonce’ narrated and provided backstories to many things a lot of us have been thinking since viewing the abundance of concert footage since May of this year, and since we downloaded the album in July 2022. Who is Uncle Johnny? What is the Renaissance? How did Blue Ivy become a part of the tour? How in the heck is that stage built and get transported to so many places so fast?

I really enjoyed learning more about how Beyonce’s creative mind works. There’s certainly a method for her madness, and she’s like Disney, passionate about the smallest details. She is a beast when it comes to producing a show that embodies who she is and what she wants her fans to feel when they leave. There were also teachable moments where Beyonce’ leads her very large team of crew, performers, and contractors. One main rule about Beyonce’ – don’t tell her ‘it can’t be done’ or ‘it doesn’t exist,’ because she personally does her research to confirm or debunk that lie. Another leadership and admirable moment I want to share that you may have heard about in the news where during one of the shows, the entire sound went out during her performance. Whoaaa! Talk about pressure. Beyonce’ handled the situation so calmly and made split second decisions to pivot when the sound returned to keep the show’s momentum and wow factor. Her composure and theatrical effect when she returned to the stage was absolutely impressive.

I enjoyed every minute of the movie and I partially dressed up in my Vegas outfit to set the tone of my excitement. You will sing out loud, dance in your seats, and boogie down the aisles with others. Don’t forget to bring your “Heated” fan to pop during the infamous song.

We could all use a reboot of something that makes us whole or happy… a bit of a Renaissance in our own lives. How will you Ctrl+Alt+Del in 2024?

About The Peetimes: Exploring this new genre of PeeTimes (concert films) is somewhat easy to do given that artists normally do outfit changes. Thus, allowing enough time for snacks and bathroom breaks. I recommend the 2nd Peetime. Tip: I made the Peetimes long enough for a restroom break and visit to the snack bar. However, please return before the Peetime ends as the next song intros promptly. Tip 2: It isn’t much of a spoiler to read the synopsis of the Peetimes before the show begins if you want to have a better idea of which Peetime(s) you would like to use.

There are no extra scenes during, or after, the end credits of RENAISSANCE: A FILm by BEYONCÉ.

Must have app if you love the movies

If you’re like me and enjoy a 92oz soda as part of the movie experience, you’ll be thankful for this app telling you the best times to go for a quick break. Whether that’s to refill your soda or recycle it.

Possibly an even better feature is the info on if the movie has after credits scenes. There’s nothing worse than sitting there reading about who the key grip was, then finding out that’s all you did. I blame Marvel for the stupid trend.

Seriously, I see a dozen movies a month and use this app every single time. Worth every Penny of the infinity coin thing I bought.
