Movie Review - Obsession
Wow. What a fun flick.
This relatively simple story - a guy in the “friend zone” makes a mysterious wish to have his girl (space) friend fall in love with him, and surprise! Things go badly when it comes true - sets up a really fun, tension-filled ride.
It’s the first major film for the director and both of the main stars, but you wouldn’t know it. The director doesn’t go for the standard horror conventions; he goes back to the basics - tightly edited, effective lighting, playful blocking, and solid storytelling. It’s effective.
And the main actress... man. This is a heckuva star turn for her - she’s fantastic.
Go catch it in a dark theatre - don’t wait for it on streaming. It won’t be the same experience!
